Actually, Thom used to be an extremely heavy drinker, but I think they all just drink casually now and then, except for Jonny. I've seen Colin and Ed smoking a number of times and Colin and Ed also went to the grammys on shrooms, believe it or not.

I think Colin just gives the question careful consideration; he's obviously very articulate and intelligent ..and tired. To all who have been amused by Thom and Coz in this interview, there is plenty more available on KZfaq where not only these two, but all members joke around, speak with quick wit and answer questions intelligently and interestingly.

Well you should really take into account that drugs don't just give you music, it has to be in their to begin with. Think of it as opening up yourself to something you wouldn't necessarily do sober, because you either don't have the confidence or you're not looking at it the right way. That's why drugs are referred to as conscious expanding, not conscious making

thom is - i'm not sure i would blame the diet though - i'm a vegetarian equip manager and i'm quite energetic. however if i had done fifty million interviews within a very short period of time i'd grow a bit weary i guess. i think their interviews are pretty interesting, though...but that's just me. and what's wrong with being another fan? haha.

@hunnixox13 drugs aren't a magic pill that gives you creativity. it's something that changes the direction of creativity that's already there. if you gave shrooms to some idiot, he wouldn't go out and spontaneously paint a bunch of Mona Lisas. If that were the case, then potheads and shroom users everywhere would be master artists, which is obviously not the case. With someone like Hendrix, you already have the talent - the drugs just directed his creativity into a psychedelic result.

Why don't you like those questions? Do they have to talk like intellectuals all the time? I remember Leonard Cohen once said that he always gets questions about all those serious things, he would like to talk about something as favourite color sometimes.

Actually we've said in a few interviews. Ed particularly is a big stoner, he's talked about it in magazine interviews and citing his times in India getting stoned from the local weed. Thom has also talked about smoking crack during the Airbag sessions and quoted saying "Getting stoned is one of the best things you can do". It comes with the territory really. Even my brother Jonny mentioned how he phoned our manager after hard drug use as he was having a breakdown of sorts.

i don't think it is any proof or anything by any means, but i've spent most of my life around people using opiates or sleeping pills (red wine and sleeping pills); I would have a hard time being convinced that Colin wasn't a user of some sort of extreme nervous system depressant: he nods out quite a bit and even begins to hum in the middle of a sentence during the musique plus interview for amnesiac in france.on the same program he plays in an "X" t-shirt, a nod to MDMA/Warped.
