Factoid: Thom thinks his piano playing skills are crap, but while some of his playing is rather 'simplistic', he is able to bang out some stunning and timeless melodies. That's right, you don't need to be Beethoven to write a good song.

Danyal Elia I'm more of an In Rainbows, Hail to the Thief, OK Computer kind of guy. While I do think they're still great, and heads and tails above most bands out there, I'm not a huge fan of their current electronic style present in King of Limbs and AMOK (and The Eraser for the most part too). They can innovate and stuff, but I don't want them to stray too far from the rock element in their songs. With that said, this rendition of "Ingenue" (my favourite track off AMOK) is fokn' amazing.

It's easy to assume this song is about a female person in Thom's life, (dandelions instantly make me imagine a child) but what if he's referring to another side of his own personality? What if he's comparing these sides of himself to illustrate just how he ends up in given situations for better or worse? The song itself looks at this 'ingenue' character so fondly, despite its whimsical nature... lovingly, and admiring the beauty of it. The music video for it shows this purposefully as well-two halves of a whole dancing *almost* in unison, who follows who? The chorus lyrics of this song are, in my opinion, some of the best lyrics Thom has ever written. 'Move through the moment, though it betrays' is so powerful... it's dancing, it's walking through a hallway.. it's smiling at a social event while your mind is elsewhere. I feel like Prince would have loved this song, as he always made the female characters in his songs the more decisive and in control forces. It's such an elegant reflection on life, and his metaphors are so incredibly potent here-placed behind such an original melody and structure, it elevates itself in my mind to genuine greatness. Thom's raw, emotional sincerity only augments the meaning here, through acceptance and being OKAY with it all. To me, this song is about admiring the part of yourself that can give up the past, force you to go forward and leave the rest behind; nothing lasts forever, come what may... we have to keep moving. It's pure poetry.. just my 2¢

MrPyroclasm Dan is a fairly popular KZfaqr. His channel name is Daniel Howell. He covered this song a few times on livestreams. Personally for me, I thought it was pretty and looked it up. I then listened to this song and fell in love with both versions. Unfortunately, people are offended from others listening to a different version first rather than the original. Hope this helps! ☺

This is seriously the most direct and sincere I've seen Thom Yorke. It's good.

Lol you fucking liar I saw you reply to someone who was saying they found it by themselves & you said that you were glad you weren't the lnly one.

Okay first of all why would I lie about such an insignificant dumb thing? Second of all you can call me a liar but I don't even know who Thom Yorke IS let alone any of his songs. Maybe I commented on the wrong thing, maybe you're just a bitch. Whatever the case may be, it's none of your damn business where I found this song. Worry about your own problems, mkay?
