My favourite baritone. I saw him on stage many times. I particularly loved his Don Giovanni, Beckmesser and Wolfram. I wish I'd seen his Budd and Posa!

The recording was made with Domingo, Ghiaurov and Freni! Such an incredible power! Love that interpretaion! His voice is perfectly balanced, great expression, gentile and such a hot timbre and a brilliant technique!!! Just Brilliant! If you ask me - well Sir Thomas Allen IS the perfect Valentin for all the times! And not only...you should hear his Count in "Le Nozze"...

Quelle distribution prestigieuse sir Thomas allen Mais aussi mirella freni et ghiaurov placido Domingo et je les enumererai pas tous quel art magnifique que le chant on en redemande

This is the performance for me - the tempo is good, too, faster than most but slowing where necessary. Fast tempo = don't have to sustain high notes unnecessarily long.

@xav71176 : Bien parlé! Il est Valentin. C'est curieux. il ne fait pas d'esbrouffe. Je crois que monsieur Charles Gounod ne serait pas mécontent. Saluons cet interprète! (que donne le reste de l'oeuvre?...)
