It sounds like it could have rather come from Dragon, does it not? Dragonwing, for instance. But, nonetheless, here it is! A more spirited approach with the eighth notes, soaring against the french horns and violins. Ah, I just said it, didn't I? Soaring. Reminds me just a tad of Run Free. Here we go... Vocals in the back sound like Merethe towards 1:00. Violins at 1:30 sound like a mix of Fire Mountain and Calamity. Bringing that TSFH flavor just fine! 1:50 makes my gut tighten in rushing adrenaline - this is turning from a joyous run into a whistling flight! The bridge is good, and needed: not much changing this pace, it's all repetition. And that's okay - he wants to clearly make a statement and solidify this track in our hearts as much as the others before and after. **8.5/10**

Your comment feels as one who has personally experienced said love and loss, but even if not, it does me great courage to just remember this: To not be afraid, for all you need do is breathe and believe in the Music. Do not fall into darkness and close your eyes; simply rise above it all and the bonds shall release you. Let the music fill you to no end with the spirit of a champion. Since you said it, id like to share a small story. Im a licensed skydiver. I jump out of airplanes. Its obviously a dangerous sport with high risk of death or injury. The more afraid you are, more you get panicked, more chances you make a mistake.. It gets Loud and scary as soon as that door opens and you're sitting right next to that door. I could literally feel my heart beating as i walk towards the door. Later, what gave me courage to overcome my fear?- TWO STEPS FROM HELL. I would close my eyes, listen to his music before the jump, id try to calm myself down. And it really worked. I was not afraid, I had more courage to step out of airplane, I was more focused on my jumps.

What I think of when I hear this piece. Especially at 1:50. Like if you agree: “For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the archangel’s voice, and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are still alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord.” ~ 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 (CSB)

In a way, that’s good! The Music is making you stronger and faster, braver too. No kidding - something similar has been writing itself in my head for days. I tend to try to create scenes to the music, matching them rather than just taking inspiration from them, and blending them into several components of a story. Wings is no exception. Of course, it could also be that I’ve practiced this song way too much on my piano, and feel like running away from it for a break! :D Only Thomas has perfection with the score, right now.

I actually had this conversation with a music professor in undergrad. This style of music, more than most if not any other modern style of music, is the spiritual descendant of classical symphonies. It is music for music's sake using instruments to create scenes and elicit emotions using nothing but sound unlike most modern music which is song relying on lyrics to convey message and meaning through more overt verbal communication.
@franklinmccrankensteen41992 жыл бұрын
@@khamedi979 thank you for putting that into eloquent words, for I completely agree. This is the only style of music I have ever had genuine interest in. Words are also usually more damaging than constructive because they can be misunderstood, for they are an imperfect artificial construct and one of the few things we can truly call unnatural in life.

This song speaks to me of the measures of transcendence humanity is capable of, and in particular (to possibly any fellow American listening) of how we have sort of done that in regards to the attack on the World Trade Center (9/11). An amazing thing about the human spirit: there only has to be the smallest bit of incentive to cause hope. Though I was only a little one, we’ll never forget the sacrifices made 19 years ago, and may those brave souls be remembered by families and friends for their heroism so excellently captured in the sound of this song. Rest In Peace and receive the reward you deserve.
@dantec4942 жыл бұрын
It seems to me that any words I have to describe this song are inadequate, but I'll try. Every time I hear this song it pierces my soul and uplifts my spirit. Whether I feel triumphant amidst great success or on the brink of breaking when facing impending ruin, I can count on this song to shake me to my core, reminding me that it's the battle, the struggle, the toil that counts, and I push on, no matter the end. Something about this song conjures images of old warriors, long forgotten and dismissed, rising to the call of battle one last time. When everyone else is running from danger these brave souls run towards it, never once considering the ingratitude of those who scorned them for their chosen profession, never holding a grudge for being discarded when their service was rendered, and peace won at the cost of their commrades' blood. No, they stand against the enemy once again when they are most needed. Though their hair be gray, their bones ache, and their armor weighs heavy, their spirit is as brilliant and fierce as ever. And when the brass section blows is the moment they charge towards the enemy, and all those lesser men and women who once loathed the warriors, watch on in both relief and shame. Of course I have a very active imagination 😄. But seriously, I'll be damned if this isn't one of the best songs ever composed.

“My son, knight thy heart before dawning that armor and drawing that sword,” my father whispered, before closing his eyes one last time. I sat there, broken, but king none the less. The tears of my people behind me as they witnessed their hero pass, but as the seconds passed his body began glowing, and the cries became trumpets. The clouds opened, and there I saw them, my fathers fellow knights at arms, smiling, inviting him to sit at their table and feast. He began to rise, as those trumpets blasted and drums beat to the chorus of his glorious conquests, as he reaches the clouds, he stoped, looked back, and smiles then he continues into the heavens.

Thank you, Thomas, for inspiring this piece :) 0:00-0:55 He was only a boy, but he knew he wanted to fly. When he received a toy plane on his seventh birthday, he wasted no time heading outside so that he could christen his new friend with a trip of its own. And, as if by magic, a plane appeared outside as well on its journey across the sky. On the ground, the boy followed it with his model, pretending he too was in the skies, watching the earth from his position up high. 0:56-1:35 “It’ll pass,” they said. “You’ll get over your flights of fantasy.” One person even dared to say to him that planes were against God’s plan for all of humankind. “If He wanted us to fly, he would have given us wings.” But the boy didn’t pay them any mind. He saved up money and went to one of the best flight schools in the nation. And of course, there were times that he wondered if it was all worth it. But every time any of those thoughts dared to enter his head, he would hear the sound of another plane roaring overhead and all doubt was gone. 1:36-2:15 That day finally arrived. The not-quite-boy-but-not-quite-man could barely hear the words of his travel partner over the excitement as he flipped the necessary switches and strapped himself in. There was the sky, up above, waiting for him to finally dance across it. “Let’s go,” he muttered under his breath. The motor whirred and he felt the plane inching forward, forward, forward… …and up. It was like everything stopped existing except him and the sky. He navigated through the clouds, his heart hammering in his chest from both the excitement and fear. He peered out his window and saw the airstrip far below. He laughed out loud at how small it all was. And there were birds! Birds flew past his window and he caught a few of his friends in their own vehicles in awe at the sight as well. He upped the motor and accelerated through the heavens, imagining that he was a paintbrush on its way to creating the next masterpiece. He glided downwards and then back up, flew in a circle, tilted his wing down like he was a bird getting ready to snap at the next fish that emerged from the depths. The next time he bothered to look down he saw his instructor smiling and waving at him and a warm glow flooded his face. He was flying. 2:16-2:47 It was all such a whirlwind. He graduated from the academy and was immediately joined the Air Force. He could hardly believe this was his life - being able to go up in the sky every day and get money from it. Each time he was up there he noticed new things: the way the clouds fogged up his windows, the way some birds seemed to mimic his movements through the air. It was like an entirely different world. He was always the first in the air and the last to land, the first to sign up for missions and the last to admit defeat and it was this tenacity that earned him a medal. 2:48-3:17 When he finally fell in love at the age of 30, it was almost as if he was flying on his feet. He would show her the sky in his plane and when the day came that he decided to propose to her, he did it the only way he knew how - with his engine painting out the words “marry me” behind his airborne machine. The boy-who-was-now-a-man settled down with his wife in a small cottage in the country and had one child with her. His leg soon began acting up and he decided to leave the Air Force, but every evening he would stand outside with his wife and regale her with tales of his life as a pilot as they watched the moon. 3:18-4:07 Then, one day, he looked outside and saw his son watching the skies with rapt attention. When he went outside, he saw that it was another plane up above that had captured him. His son was following it with his eyes and then his finger as it made its slow turns in the sky. “What’s that, Dad?” “That, my son, is a plane. I used to fly one.” “Can I fly one as well?” “With the right training, yes.” And as his son’s eyes lit up with excitement, the man knew one day he too would fly.

Another amazing music piece from the god of epic music. In my opinion Bergersen has already surpassed every other composer in history in the breadth and depth of his music.

In this crazy, chaotically world full of illnesses made by humans, wars and other global disasters... may this song take you to a dream where all is well and peace and love exists!! ✌✌ *Awesome song 2sfh!

And may that peace and Bravery exist also in you! Don’t forget to look out for yourself as well as serving others. But the beauty of TSFH is that we keep fighting the grim haze, and though our courage may feel like dying, we are reborn from the notes of song. When your eyes close, the end is always the beginning.

If this masterpiece you're listening to right now inspires you to something, do it, even if it scares you! Especially if it scares you. I listened to this for the first time and my inspiration provided me with a vivid inner movie. And now, well, I've done it. I just uploaded a fanfic that was absolutely and totally inspired by this beautiful music. Music made me braver, but I will be a bundle of nerves for a while as I always am after uploading something. Truly, the only part I don't like about this music is that it ends. Thank God for the Loop function! And thank you, Thomas Bergersen for this magical piece!

I used to work in the prisons as a welfare officer and when you're subjected to the cruelty and inhumane acts of these people it tends to warp your perception of people in general to the point where you become cynical. However ever since i have been listening to the music on youtube i have noticed a profound change in my outlook, It is beautiful music like this which has saved me from becoming a twisted bitter person.

Every time I discover a new TSFH song, new or not, I give it a rating in the comments. With a stirring melody, soaring horns, and a spectacular scale, I am proud to give this a *9.5/10* Feel free to agree or disagree with me in the replies, I want to know what my fellow TSFH nerds think!

This inspires me, lifts my spirits and makes me think of this phrase: "Carry the willpower of a thousand dwarves in combat. Carry the light of the scorching sun in your glare as u cut through each rough patch as a melody slices through the wind. Be the resolve and the leader that carries the spirit that may chase away your inner demons with resonating light shining off of you and with regality of a leader all gaze upon in wonder." ~Ranya Ranya is a character I own and created the personality for. I guess u could say this song lifts ones spirits just as wings allow for flight.
