middle weight is a dangerous division as fighters can punch as fast as a lightweight or as hard as a heavyweight... this man could do both

My favorite boxer is Roberto Durán. I've molded myself to try to fight like him, and have had moderate success in the amateurs. I religiously watch Hearns' fights every now and then to remind me that there's always at least one guy that's perfectly able to flatten you no matter how good you are (or think you are, in my case). All four kings were brutal, all of them were savages, but none of them inspired as much raw fear as Hearns. It takes someone really special to make Hagler and Durán look like the ones you'd rather fight.

Unlike Wladimir, despite the weak chin, Hearns would always choose to fight rather than box even though he had superb boxing skills.

They didn't call him Hit Man for nothing.Mr Hearns is legend....He was one of the best...I remember when he first fought Learnard .I went with him to beat Learnard.He was out boxing Learnard all thru the fight but when Learnard hurt him if he would held Learnard and tied him up and bought some time he was ahead on the score cords at the time..He would have won...He wanted rematch with Learnard but didn't get it until years later...They thought he had slow down and they score it a draw but I believe Hearns won that fight..Then when he fought Duran,I couldn't believe he knockout him out like that..I remember when out box Benentiz one of best defensive boxer and history .Hearns out box him..Who can forget that night never seen a fight like that Hagler won by knockout but man what a fight...Even thou Hagler won but to me it was like when we was coming in got in a fight but even thou you lost you put up such a good fight you still got respect....What,I like about Hearns he would fight anybody at anytime..He didn't duck know one...Like Pac-Man ...He wanted you at your best..Like today's fighter for some reasons they want fight other...When both fighters are at their best Like for example.. I believe if Floyd would have fought Pac Man 5 years earlier he would have won but they waited,I believe until they felt Pac-Man had slowed down to fight him..

He knocked Shuler out in 73 seconds but the Leonard fight got in the way of a rematch to Marvin. Then went to James funeral and gave him back his belt on the coffin after Shuler sadly died in a motor cycle accident. That is pure class from the Hitman. He desperately wanted to avenge his loss. Tommy with a fully functioning right hand would have given Hagler far, far, more Hell - in fact he could have starched him like he did Duran without a broken right. Marvin caught lightening in a bottle that night and he knew it. Hearns never feared anyone. Ever. Phil.

I am a huge Tommy Hearns fan, I met him in Phoenix and watch him train here. When he fought Leonard the first time September 16, 1981, I was actually a Leonard fan. Five I really thought Tommy blew it going for the knockout. He had the fight won. I became a huge Hearns fan after that. Never missed a fight.

2 fukin hours doing push ups and dips, not tired even on bit baby, Tomas is inspirational. Thomas Hearns was not a very muscular type of bulky guy, yet he had slim and sharp arms like razor blades, when he trough his cross, it felt like he was chopping air, and landed it with such brutal force, that the opponent couldn't handle it. That's why they called his cross punch: Chopping Right. Best Welterweight ever in history in my opinion.

Tommy Hearns at 154 pounds (junior middleweight) was possibly the greatest fighter of all time, pound for pound. At that weight he dominated the great Wilfredo Benitez (with a broken hand) and completely DESTROYED Roberto Duran in two rounds. He was stronger at that weight than he was as a welterweight, he hit even harder, and he was even faster. He never lost at junior middleweight, and if he’d stayed at that weight and not moved to the middleweight division and fought bigger, stronger guys like Marvin Hagler and Iran Barkley, he probably wouldn’t have lost another fight!

He has to be the best light middleweight ever. He never lost in 154, won 5 title fights. (Lineal and wbc). He should've been undisputed but they stripped Duran's belt. He also beat 2 all time greats in that Division. Outboxed and knocked down defensive master Wilfred Benitez and completely destroyed Roberto Duran.

Best middleweight Hagler. Quickest Leonard. Most durable Duran. Most dangerous Hearns. He was tall, long, lengthy & mostly very murderous hence his nickname the "hit an".
