3 жыл бұрынThomas Mann was a life-long admirer of Goethe. From 1936 to 1939, he wrote the novel "Lotte in Weimar" (The Beloved Returns). This book catches the atmosphere very well and Mann creates a convincing sound for Goethe's inner monologue.

Thank you for this video! Just finished 'Lotte in Weimar' in English and enjoyed the extra background info you provided. I'm looking to start on 'Joseph and His Brothers' soon, and would also love to see videos on Hermann Hesse if you ever make any. Also on 'The Magic Mountain' - easily my favourite book.
