I lost my dad last month. Used to be a fishing and hunting guide, now at 32 I'm in law school. He taught me everything. Last week, I took my 11 year old black lab duck hunting for the first time 2 years. The last time was with my dad. I dropped one with my first shot with my dad's gun. Watching my old boy getting that bird choked me up, and my dad was right beside me. Soon both my dog and my dad will be right there. Do it. And do it alone. You'll appreciate it.

Lost my old man a few years ago. He loved fishing and got me into it when I was young. I fell out of hunting and fishing quite a bit as i got older but the year he passed i got back out caught my largest salmon and steelhead as well as got my first deer. I know he was looking down on me smiling. When you get back out you'll feel that yours is too.

I left home which was a remote ranch in West Texas, to go to college then law school. I went to work as an attorney in Austin (which might as well be California at this point). I went home one time for a ranch rodeo and realized how empty my life had become. I quit my job and now work in the cattle industry again and do some ranching. Glad I never threw my boots out.

Good to see some people coming back to being Country, those of us who never left being Country are glad to see you back, I never quit fishing with my Dad till he wasn't able to go fishing and was bed ridden, then I took care of him till he passed away at 90, we fished, hunted, built houses, drove truck, ran heavy equipment, rode motorcycles together, I wish I had some of those times back, he was a great man and Awesome Dad, great husband to my wonderful mother, a great grandpa, a WW2 VET. I've never seen any one man that had so much in his life to give to others. I miss you Daddy, love your country son.

Country music has always spoken to me and fed my soul in some ways. I lost my dad last month and it’s his birthday today. We would go camping and fishing. He always wanted to learn fly fishing, but never got the chance to. But I know he’s probably fly fishing in heaven now. It just me today when I saw his birthday on my phones calendar this morning and listening to this song. God I miss him! He could always crack a joke and make me laugh. Thanks for writing a good song.

@@tobyflenderson6972 wtf no Thomas Rhett in this mv/song if you REALLY listen to the lyrics you’d know what he’s trying to say (or at least I think more then likely) that he got distracted and now is wanting to go back to country but idk either way this song is a masterpiece just like the rest of his songs! “No talent” ALL HIS MUSIC IS PURE TALENT not a lot of musicians can go as big as he did AND have a family and still remain true/honest to their spouses just saying. Roots are roots! How well this strikes a chord notwithstanding the fact that I am an Indian. American country songs, simplicity of the people who follow that culture, closeness to the nature, affection for fellow people, simple music, beautifully strung together word play is just too good a combination. It's a ride to a different world altogether. Indebted to American country artists. They help me close the day in another world that's simple, beautiful, natural, serene and nestled amidst beautiful nature away from concrete jungles ❤️

I've lived in a concrete town in Europe most of my life. Moved to North America when I was 34. Lived on ranches, in small villages, in big towns in the west and the east. About one year ago, made the decision to "be country again" and move back west to my beautiful Alberta. Headed west, and yes, it "feels good to be country again !". I stand proud to the American and Albertan flag and I kneel to the cross ! And I'm proud of having my home here, in this conservative part of North America - it will never change !

This song has helped me make up my mind to head home sooner rather than later.. I grew up in Fitzgerald and my sister lives in Valdosta. My ol' man is slippin' away with each passing day. I need to move back home and return to the country life I once knew. I wish I had never left Fitzgerald. The one who got away, got away because I left home, 'n' left her behind. But had I married her, I'd have prob come home early to see "That Ain't My Truck" because one of them "Boys 'Round Here" would have been paying her a visit while I wasn't home!! I do enjoy your music, but I loved your ol' man's music back in the day....well I am about 4 years older than him... I think it's neat that your children now have an uncle that's younger than them.......We know that happens a lot in the South.....whether it's from a late life surprises or new marriages!!

We all do, I think, (Gen Z)So thank you Mr. Thomas Rhett sir, for these lyrics that speak to me. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm putting my phone down and going to go bass fishing with my folks

One of my biggest regrets is not appreciating my life in the countryside of Austin, TX. I used to complain to my family saying I couldn’t wait to live in the big city and experience the fast paced life. After we lost our house, property, and animals, we had to pack up and move to Chicago. In this time, I learned what I had lost. A quiet life with no problems, a school I loved going to, friends that always enjoyed having me around, and true happiness. Learn from me, never take what you have for granted! Always tell those you care about how much you appreciate them and enjoy the small things in life, because it can all be taken away in mere seconds.

Yea I live about 5 miles in the woods and my grandparents are giving me their house when they pass away and they told me that they don’t want me to ever sell the house and property and I said even if you didn’t say that I still would keep it it’s my home the country is where I belong not some big city the city is like hell to me and I said if I was to sell it I wouldn’t be able to get nothing like it again because everything is getting developed and the country is just getting smaller so it would be hard to find something like it we got it good a farm beside us and a plantation and they are both 50 plus years old to so we won’t get a neighborhood beside us or anything like that and we got a lot of woods a garden and a river so there’s a lot of food supply so we can survive off the land if we have to and we got our own little community just family and friends so we are lucky to have what we got and wouldn’t trade it for a million dollars

Covid gave me unemployment and a big curtailment on my life, but one thing it did give me was time. I had reconnected with my old hunting buddies and put a couple of bucks in the freezer two seasons in a row. I finally made that fly fishing trip an old Army buddy of mine had been wanting to do for years. I shouldn’t have taken a global pandemic and getting laid off to teach me that I should have been keeping my country roots all along. Man it feels good to be country again.
