MEGA MONSTER DOUBLE TROUBLE THOMAS THE TANK DARK SIDE. In this whopping update you will see the unboxing of some very nasty fake Thomas The Tank toys. During 2013 there seems to be a flood of new dark side toys in the shops, there is lots more to be seen in future episodes.
You will see a Thomas Tank Roller Coaster playlet which actually works pretty well. Two Talking Thomas The Tanks with bump and go action, moving mouth and eyes and a real smoke effect. Lets also look at a small range of fake merchandise, raincoat, umbrella, watches, caps and school bag. Just for the shock value I show you some fake Monster High dolls and you can clearly see how poorly they are made. To get back on track lets then look at a toy mash up of a Thomas The Tank and Ben 10 knock off train sets, it's lots of fun to bring these two small and fast fake train sets together. Lets keep rolling and take a look at a new variation of a clone Thomas The Tank Big Loader playlet. For some reason the trains have new names and changes to the faces. Then comes a TOMY Thomas The Tank clone and it's called Truck Master ( not TrackMaster ). This is a very strange train set as Thomas The Tank is green, and Annie & Clarabel have now become two carriages called Glarabel. I use this knock off to do a short Thomas Vs Thomas so you can see how weak the fake Thomas Tank is Vs the real licensed Thomas The Tank.
In no way can I endorse these styles of products, they are low quality and often have small parts which easily break away. It should be a very clear reminder to all of us just how good the licensed Thomas & Friends products are.

The Bi-Plane is Tiger Moth, a throwback to Thunderbird 6. Edward the Blue Engine is No.2, and the Red Engine on the raincoat is Arthur, and he's standard gauge. Also the green Thomas' face is ripped right off the Plarail Thomas from Japan. The Plarail Thomas actually has a white running board though.

I was surfing amazon looking at train stuff, and one of those green Thomas sets came up, but Thomas was red and it came with a gray Clarabel. Anyway, nice to see another dark side episode. I'm a big fan of these episodes and some of the components in these are actually pretty cool like that spring on the roller coaster.

The spring in the first reviewed toy kind of reminds me of the Matchbox Motorway from 1969. It used some kind of springy object to move the cars. The cars had little pins that held them in place. The spring or springs were controlled by cogs from powerhouses that look like buildings connected to a transformer.

30:50 2005 was not the end of Tomy era for Thomas toys, they still make Thomas toys today. They purchased wooden railway in 2011 and Mattel purchased wooden railway in 2013.

Thanks for the face ID. I don't have a Japanese Thomas and I bet your correct. One thing this shows us is look how many variations of Thomas there is, and I did not show all the other expressions and models I don't yet own. For a really important face in the toy kingdom he's had some major make-overs.

One of the big tells for me that a product is a knockoff is when the actual train has pictures of other characters on it, fake products seem to have this frequently. The picture on the tag of that backpack is actually a DVD cover, weird. Really entertaining video, I think there might be more knock off products than real ones!

fun fact: the green Thomas st might be from japan because his face is the plarail design that replaced the original tomy one and was used in almost (excluding ones with unique expressions) all units made from 2003-2018 when they made CGI faces

Considering how popular your channel is in the Thomas community and many videos like this being so memorable and iconic to fans like me, I actually wouldn't be too surprised if Mattel took inspiration from the knockoff Green Thomas featured here for his LBSC 70 Green and White livery. Mattel interacts quite a bit with the community, so it'd be interesting. If only you could go back to this old format, but unfortunately modern day KZfaq doesn't allow such things.

40 minutes of Dark Side specials, the perfect way to start off my morning. As always, Leo, these anomalies are always interesting and embarrassing to look at. Sometimes it makes you wonder if the fake-o companies have ever seen anything based on what they're copying. It's be like if I tried making Angry Bird Star Wars fakes but gave them Star Trek uniforms instead of the Star Wars outfits.

They have released the Plarail version of Thomas in several different sets in Australia also. The key things that stand out between the Plarail, Tomy, and Trackmaster, are the faces and white running boards. Plarail is more detailed compared to its to other counterparts, though its more common to find Tomy and Trackmaster in Australia. Also the knock-off Henry, is actually James repainted green. While Tomy is discounted, it still carries out in Japan and it's now known as Plarail.

The green Thomas has the face of the first generation Japanese plarail thomas. (Around 2002 through 2017) it also has the same face as the 2003, 2004, 2005, tomy Thomas that came with sets. It had a white running plate, paint on the fake front coupling, and white behind the eyes. There was one in your 1 hour collecting video. I think the 12th collecting video but I’m not sure.

For me thats a great dark side find, but the $40 price tag was completely over the top. That toy was purchased in a very well to do high end shopping centre on the north shore of Sydney. I am noticing the dark side stuff starting to filter into the Westfield shopping centres more and more. It's very nasty to see this going on.

Regarding the double-Clarabel issue with the knock-off toys, my best guess is that the companies who produce them are too cheap to print different stickers for Annie, so they re-use Clarabel's. I never knew it was possible for any company to get THAT cheap, but sadly, that's just the world we live in now.

To be honest, that green Thomas actually has a design choice that I wish the real Thomas’s had. That connecting rod looks so much better than the one the current Thomas’s have. If Tomy and Mattel used that style of connecting rod, I’m sure it would have added to the look of the trains. Plus they would have made it much safer for kids since technically the connecting rod design on the current Thomas’s can actually come off fairly easily in some cases. Which is more of a choking hazard. :/

I actually used to have a big loader set! And of course it was a Tomy one, but the fact of the matter is was that I had one and just now realize how rare it really is and it just really, really shocks me that I had one when I was little. I actually remember clear as day my grandfather and my dad fixing the little motorized truck that moved the trains around the set. I think they were fixing the gears or one of the gears. I don't really remember that much about it though just them working on it.
