Thomas The Tank Collection 11 Amazing Classic Thomas & Friends Toys

Many Thomas And Friends trains and toys have been accumulating in the last year, this episode of Thomas The Tank collecting will look over an amazing Thomas And Friends Hit Toy Company Lets Go Thomas (Follow Me Thomas features) which has an animated face and lots of Thomas talk and songs. This toy is so elaborate it really needs it's own independent toy review. This 2009 toy is a great example of how good the large early learning Thomas toys used to be compared to whats on the market today. There is also more of those lovely Thomas The Tank Learning Curve collecting cases appeared in the last year. These are very impressive because of their size and Thomas The Tank good looks. Then we take a look at a Unimax Toy Train which is like a small scale LEGO Duplo train system. I love Thomas plush toys, especially if they are real ones. Hopefully the one I show in the video is a 2003 Gullane Thomas plush and I stand it up against a nasty knock off Thomas The Tank plush toy. Finally I have an example of the early ERTL Thomas track system, it's a curious piece which arrived in box. I have a feeling this ERTL track system is difficult to find as it's tricky to find on e-bay. Moving on I have another amazing Golden Bear Thomas & Friends set. There is Thomas, Annie, Clearable (2 of), Gordon and Bertie. The track forms a circle for the Golden Bear trains to ride on. I hope the squeaky wheels brings back some good Thomas & Friends memories. When looking on e-bay for Golden bear Thomas toys they seem fairly expensive. Maybe this is the Thomas toy to keep a close eye on in coming years.

Wow, that follow me Thomas is certainly something... how awesome! I'm surprised that the rubber face is still intact; I thought it might have decayed over time and cracked. I didn't see much of the ERTL track as a child, and that was during it's heyday as a toy, and I was never a fan, as I like a track system with my trains. Ah that pullback/driver Thomas was my first, and I have to saw the 2004 one was very nice... but also the beginning of the end... Ah Golden Bear; I had Thomas and Edward, but always wanted more! But sadly it was not to be-I had to wait until I was much older to start collecting Thomas stuff... Hmmm Bertie is he worth it? Not for me :P Oh I broke my TOMY bridge haha, that person was me I'd love to see the Follow Me Thomas more :)

Such a fantastic collection you have there Leo! Very impressive and I would definitely love to see it in an exhibition. Would be awesome! That first talking Thomas, was just amazing, kept replaying the video to see it in action haha. Such an amazing toy, I never knew toys like that existed. Considering it was a much older model, you'd expect Mattel to be more advanced and elaborative with these types of older toys when they took over the toy franchise. However it's sad to see some of their products are lacking that wow factor. They do produce great models... But it would be so cool if they stuck with older ranges like that great follow me thomas and definitely the ERTL models, and just made them better than how they were. Can't wait for part 12. Looking forward to seeing those boxes full of awesomeness! :)

Maybe the ERTL track is so large for the long engines. If the track was narrow, Gordon, BoCo and others would have trouble in the curves.

By far one of the best Thomas collections I have seen and the passion you have for the "Loved" on toys is very heart warming, because of this channel my 3 year old son now has his own large collection of the Thomas Trains. Awesome video! I have to say that out of the three Thomas toy company's, I have to say that the Hit toy company did the best job on making Thomas toys, for the fact that they made the Lets go Thomas toy. I can't wait to the rest of your Thomas collection :)

Z.M PRODUCTIONS I think ERTL, TOMY, Learning Curve and HiT TOYS did some very nice work, possibly my fav is TOMY. I'm struggling to get my head around what Mattel are doing to the Thomas toys of today. Because of my very large collection I'm starting to see the big picture related to these toys.

I was very impressed by the Thomas ERTL set, it's a really rare collectors item. I can explain the Farquar station, Bandai made the 'ERTL Gold Line' series in Japan, basically it's the Japanese ERTL. The Gold Line looks much better than the American ERTL by the way.. You should be happy with that station, as far as i know, it's pretty rare... The GoldenBear trains don't get much Thomas love, because there isn't much to be scratched, they are well built and basically they can't get much Thomas love at all. I REALLY hope part 12 will come along soon, i really can't wait to see the TOMY stuff... And i'm sorry that my comments are usually very long, Leo. But i can't explain everything in a more subtle way..

Sherlock Holmes The TOMY stuff in episode 12 has a bit of a story to it, and it will connect to a previous Thomas mystery of a part TOMY set that came my way a few episodes ago. I have a lot of time for those TOMY Thomas trains, they are robust, look good and have proven to be massively popular. In a way it's a real shame these styles of toys were culled. But toy companies can only make profits if they keep changing the toys, we can't have toys which carry on forever. That would make too much sense.

Great video! The toy is interesting overall, but the movement of the eyes is freaky. Kind of like those new age dolls whose eyes dart around and blink at you from their homes on the shelves at toy stores. Unsettling.

I believe the Ffarquhar station piece is from the ERTL Gold Rail series of play sets. They were slightly larger toys that were designed and sold by Bandai in Japan and came to the US and other places under the ERTL Gold Rail name. They were basically up-scaled ERTL models, with almost exactly the same details but improved wheel sets and magnetic couplings with leavers that could be flipped to release rolling stock coupled to them. Basically everything good about the ERTL models with the added bonus of nicer wheels and couplings, and I certainly prefer them. The Gold Rail Ffarquhar came with the station itself in several pieces and a Gold Rail Thomas. There were also some green benches and lamps. The other ERTL track is so big because the larger ERTL engines didn't have any separation between engine and tender and couldn't fit around corners well.

JesusBlack14 I have done one Thomas merch video (litmus test) it was slow to pick up but lately has become very popular. I have a TON of amazing Thomas merch that would not fit on the table. I honestly thinking the merch is more interesting than the trains because some of it is very unusual. There is such a huge range of stuff, it's scary to see how large the Thomas empire is away from the toy trains.

I like your videos a lot I've seen the videos in the past. when you did in the mad bomber that was the first video I watched that was a pretty neat video I love to have you did your details. but I also like when you do your Thomas collection videos. I like it when you take your time at it too. I like your lizard videos of your animals in a when you try to capture a lizard or a reptile. Like to see more of your Thomas videos eventually I like your Thomas collection videos. What the battery trains said you showed in that video you posted I have one of the pieces of that train set.. Wow, I like that first Thomas, I saw it in stores to, and thought if was a little weird, and my local A.C.Moore might still have some of these in stock, looks like a great thing to give to my younger sister. Those Take Along cases look better in my opinion, I wanted one of those as a child, but I was more interested in Thomas Wooden Railway, maybe you should give away some of them. That hook thing on Thomas is called a brake pipe. I also have the Ertl track set with the sheds, and I got it used quit a few year back. I got that take along birthday Thomas individually for my little sisters T&P collection.

I LOVE this video! It's really bringing me back to when my son had his train table. He moved to Legos, then video games (Minecraft!!!), so his Thomas days are sadly over. I wish I had as many guitars as you have trains, but considering the space the guitars take up, I'd probably need a bigger house.

I was actually surprised to see the same Ertl Thomas train set that I used to play with. I still have all the pieces for it, actually. Re-guarding the little tunnel you mentioned, there are a few other accessory kits too. There's also a water tower snap-together accessory. And as for the Station, That's an Ertl Thomas Gold-Line accessory. Those particular models were larger than the die-cast ones you have, and had magnetic couplers. I THINK the cars could be disconnected from one another with a small lever. That I cannot confirm, as I only have a troublesome truck from the series. Also, I'm not sure if you are aware of this, but there was also a Sega Genesis Thomas the Tank Engine game.

That Thomas you had at the very end in that clear box is something I had two of, I probably have not seen one of those for almost 15 years! I also had loads of the golden bear characters, there were very few I didn't have and yes they squeaked soooo much! The only thomas engine I have in my collection now are a almost complete set of Brio thomas engines they are the ones that most resemble the characters and the ones I like the best. But my most prized piece in my collection is a ERTL mini world Henry from the early 2000s. It's just a shame he has a chip on his face! I missed an opportunity to buy one new and one has not come up since. Also here might be a strange one or you, Henry is my favourite character but I only collect the versions of him which have the correct amount of wheels on the engine Henry being a 4-6-0 it's difficult to find a new Henry like this. That is why I only have the Bachmann H.O. Brio and ERTL miniature versions.

24:03-4 So it isn't just me- all of the Checkout James' eyebrows look like that! Not saying it's a bad thing, more like that it looks odd on the character. It's been the longest time since I've seen ERTL Track like that. Saw it once in a magazine, got really excited about it when I was younger.. never saw it in real life though. The eyes of the talking/Follow Me Thomas are a little unnerving but I like the quality of the toy, especially with the aforementioned white on the footpath. Wish more Thomas toys had that. It makes all the difference. Those Golden-Bear Thomas' engines took me by surprise as I was typing! I've still got my Edward, Toby, and Trevor around here somewhere.. they may have been simple and chunky, but those faces were dead-on accurate to what we see on TV. I think Mattel has come out with another 'My First Thomas' range recently. Similar engines and track, but (as with the Push-&-Go Thomas's) they have decreased significantly in size. I hope we get to see more of that Nylint Thomas (the one in the big tub with the grey coupling rods) in the next video. It was a delight seeing some of the things you shared with us, and I hope we do see more in future. :)

The 1993 Ffaquhar station is made by ertl for a separate range called gold rail. Many of their models were motorised and also they made a very large turntable set compatible with ertl trains. This playset is featured in a youtube video called 'six vanishing engines'

The first Thomas with the rubber face is almost like the Elmo Live of the Thomas empire, but seeing as Elmo came out around that time, maybe this was HIT's way of trying to compete? Having a toy that's mechanically intuitive and impressive but also interactive in more ways than one. It's just a matter of whether you prefer Elmo or Thomas, red or blue.

James Bowen Well all I know is once Mattel took control the bar has lowered. And Mattel are in shock over the huge reductions in profit. Apart from the ipad app generation which started to kick in around 2010 they only have themselves to blame by downsizing and cheapening up the toys. I think we will see the major toy companies really struggle in the coming years because real toys now have some major free competition. Will we see the advent of a free toy? I know there are countless free apps on offer.

leokimvideo Mattel's handling of its products hasn't impressed me for many, many years. I remember a time when Hot Wheels had a catalog filled with fantastic looking infrastructure and realistic looking cars. A child could make a city to play with. Now there is none of that. Everything is goofy looking and unrealistic. Apparently, the rationale for this was the merger of Matchbox into Mattel's line; with the toy car market tied up quite nicely, they relegated Hot Wheels to fictitious designs while Matchbox maintained greater realism. In the wake of that decision, almost all my purchases of Hot Wheels since then have been done at swap meets where I can find items from the 90s. Purchases of post-2000 Hot Wheels can be counted on one hand. Likewise, the recent acquisition of the TWR brand by Mattel doesn't appear a good omen for it either. The trend of plastic integration has only continued under their administration, with no end to it in sight. Thomas Wooden Railway has become a misnomer. As with Hot Wheels, I remember a very different time that is no more. A time when plastic was the component used sparingly. When the packages were not wholly there was even a life destroyed in being opened. There was even a lifetime guarantee on the products too. How things have changed... Mattel is still in business, but their tactics and handling demonstrate they don't make the best decisions and are not always in touch with what customers want. You have to remember companies like them look at their customers as the beholden ones, believing whatever they turn out should be accepted flatly and paid for without question. The experiences of the American auto industry come to mind as a parallel... -OAE

***** I see lots of Gold Rail on e-bay but it does not sell, in fact those trying to sell it just keep re-listing the items but the price never changes. In fact I see tons of ERTL stuff that never sells on e-bay.

I have some of that ERTL track in gray but I have also got it in a green with a track sticker on it and I have the plastic ERTL which I never knew was ERTL but that fits on the track really nice also a question has anyone else got plastic Ertl's I can't seem to find any on eBay so are they rare or some thing.

Wow, amazing! Your collection just keeps growing! Maybe I should do a video of my Star Wars collection! Im not sure if all those trains shown at 1:05 are knock offs, I think I used to have some of them when I was little....

oodsigma considering that my collection comes to me automatically it is amazing, I would hate to think how much all this would cost and time wasted looking on e-bay or going to hundreds of yard sales.

Deverton Junction I was to to take it to exhibit last year (2014) Sadly the date ended up being stacked up with two other very important events and I had to push back a public showing until hopefully this year. When I exhibit it will be kept secret, but I assure you once my collection goes public it will make a little train show I know very happy.
