I had a 6 pack of Duracell C battery's (never been used) The pack had only one battery removed. 2 years later I find that all the battery's have leaked except for one.

To be fair most of the Thomas and friends wood items look ok. The simple look is what made the original wooden railway so good to begin with. But if only they were fully painted they would be good brand. Also congratulations on making 21 of these. You are truly one of the best youtubers on the internet and the fact that you dont have the subscribers you deserve is insulting. Regardless you have inspired many youtubers including myself and I hope you continue to do so.

you are my inspiration to do my own thomas collection. its not nearly as big as yours but I have a few items that I think would be pretty rare and valuable. but like you, every thomas is valuable to me. I could not imagine my childhoodd without him.

As someone who has followed the Thomas Wooden brand for many years, I anticipate that the Thomas Wood moniker will preside over a sharp decline in sales. This fall has been a long time coming, for many reasons: ------------------------------------- 1. Value isn't what it used to be. Most TWR sets around 2001, regardless of size, contained at least a few vehicles and accessories to play with. In contrast, the 2011 "Steaming Around Sodor" set contained just one (Battery Powered Thomas), a circuit of track and one lonely windmill. No trees, no people, no signs. BP Thomas steams around a Sodor barren of any sort of scenery. -------------------------------------- 2. Thomas Wood's incompatibility will drive existing users away from it. Based upon what I have read, adapters to unite Thomas Wood and Thomas Wooden Railway track will only be available for a short while. This kind of exit is unheard of. The transition from Clickety-Clack Track to Traction Rail involved modification, but they can be used together harmlessly. By abandoning their existent design, Mattel will abandon a large portion of the people who would still buy track. Those customers, whose layouts use the old design, will simply change to existent Thomas track on eBay or other brands like Brio. --------------------------------------- 3. TWR's strength in simplicity has been overlooked (by Mattel and others) in the electronic games. While some might say wooden railways are a toy of the past for children in an age such as today's, this is undoubtedly wrong. Children love trains now just as they did before and electronics have not changed that. The proliferation of battery powered toys and other electronics has changed how companies like Mattel approach their own products though. Rather than embracing their toys' simplicity and playing to that strength, they've betrayed it trying to lard on battery powered things as a gimmick. Simplicity is well liked and popular (as evidenced by the current fondness of TWR buyers to older versions of TWR like the 1996 Gordon you showed, as well the Troublesome Brakevan). To be clear, this simplicity is NOT the same as the austerity put forward by Thomas Wood. Simplicity is well liked, but austerity is off putting. ------------------------------------- There is more to this than what I have written, but I believe these 3 points cover chief reasons behind recent troubles for the Thomas Wooden Railway range. Personally, I think it is best that Thomas Wood be allowed to fail. Perhaps then Mattel will begin to roll back the clock on the wooden railway range to times when the products were better. Enabling Thomas Wood by supporting it will only encourage Mattel that they've made the right choice and should do more of it. The future of TWR lies with what people decide to make with it. -OAE

I miss the older thomas toys, trackmaster classic, take along, classical wooden railway (wooden railway not so much since it hasnt changed that much), i really miss when mettel showed alot of love to designing the toys

I'm sorry to hear about the charity shop they really got you some of the best Thomas toys that I could only dream of finding at second hand sales and charity shops. Those take alongs were the thing that really caught my eye. Now I'm not saying adventures is fully bad but it just can't beat take along and in Ireland it's so hard to find most shops I go to only have 1 or 2 item's of the range with the rest being take n play.

That's really depressing it hear your thrift shop closed. "Times are a-changing I'm afraid", I hope you can find away or somewhere to keep collecting, but no matter what, do your best.

Hey Leo, I found a Knock-off Thomas Bubble Blower/Gun at my County Fair. The most peculiar part was that each Item was differently numbered. one I found was 996, (and it's one I took a picture of) and another I found out of Box with the Number 181. I also tried the 181, and it made the El Cheapo "you know what" sound.

Omg your very lucky I see some fairly rare wooden railway stuff. I know that you have a full set I forget how to spell it but it's a rhenase( narrow gauge engine) set. My cousin had it and it was very impressive

Collecting is hard i think any collector of anything can tell you that myself included heck I got some of my megazords and transformers through charity shops here in the uk but you with Thomas can at least find a fair amount of the new stock I barely can most people of the time keep it don’t let a couple bad ebay experiences make you shun the site

Thats such a shame that the charity shop has closed down, Ive been watching your Thomas Collection train videos for years so I hope they find another location to set up shop. I have that classic 1996 Gordon, along with 1998 Percy and Thomas wooden railway, and nothing else compares to them. They served me well as a child, and they were just the best toys. The children of today dont know what they have missed. I've seen the Thomas Wood toys, and frankly they're a disgrace. Great video Leo, I truly hope this isnt the end of your Thomas collecting days.
