I agree with your points -- even though Mattel was trying to save wood -- the toys are a MAJOR downgrade and not even the parents like them, as well as simple sets should not cost $60 to $70!. Wooden Railway was really unique and unfortunately I don't have much of the range but it was really good while it was around. It's a shame Edward and Henry (you forgot Toby) don't have Wood models but at least we don't have to see them downgraded.

Watching this in 2023 really shows that wood had potential once they started painting the engines, but it fell short and wooden railway will win over any day. one thing I can say is this: It had one hell of a run. And will go down in Thomas history.
