I have been a hairdresser in the US ( Atlanta area ) for 40 years. Women get extensions, wigs, a huge array of choices ( and no one seems to care!) I think you should enjoy it, own it, and have fun with it!! Go for it, and I think( as a professional) it looks really great!! We change outfits, shoes, make up, etc!! Enjoy your new look. It’s very natural looking . I remember your music, and really enjoyed it very much , and you are definitely on my Spotify!! Safe travels to you!🫶🏻😊

Mr Dolby, I wrote a letter to you in about 1982, such an innocent time, professing my love of your music which I constantly played . You very kindly wrote back to me telling me you often had lyrics pop in your head while ironing or feeding your cat 😊. You were a big part of my youth. Still love music but my taste is heavier, I have followed Tool since the 90s. I'm going to have to put your album on now and reminisce!

I was listening to so much music back in the 80's "New Wave" and all that. I think "Airwaves" is one of the most beautiful songs ever written. I listen to it almost every day, right before sunset, which is usually the most peaceful and prettiest time of day. So, Thomas Dolby is with me nearly every day! And I've enjoyed all of the videos I've seen of him on KZfaq - not just music videos, but interviews, demonstrations of electronics in music, etc. A nice, genuine guy, I'm sure.

68 year old bald musician here. Thanks for a completely honest video. I’ve considered hair replacement. At some point I realized that I want to be known for what is inside my head instead of what is on my head. But onstage, lights bounce off my head like lasers, so I always wear a hat. Why not wear hair? Everything you talk about here, I go through the same. You look great and thank you for sharing this❤

Yes, I'm a year older than Thomas myself, and did the hairpiece thing for nearly ten years in my 30's. Finally tired of all the hassles and the cost and got rid of it and never looked back. Baldness may or may not have the ´coolness´ factor now according to current fashions which are more in the direction of longer styles again, but especially at this age, it's a non-factor in my life and I'm perfectly comfortable without hair.

I assume SBMWS, eh?* *2. Was the dancing you refer to on a stage (while you collected immediate payment) or are you referring to something not quite that naughty?* 😮 TIA!

Excellent!! Your demographic would be exactly the opinion I would be interested in hearing their thoughts on Dolby’s original video : with the cultural experience you’ve had , do you think his video and song sound and look “dated” , or do you think (if one didn’t know) it has a somewhat “freshness” to it? I’m Gen X , so I remember when it was brand new , and it was a game changer and penetrated everyday conversation etc. - all anyone had to do was raise your hand in the air and yell “Science!!” - everyone knew what your were referring to . Just curious ……

Hello Thomas! Excellent decision you have made. Undoubtedly, it is something very well executed. I am 58 years old and have a lot of hair, and I have always wondered what I would do if I ever lost it, I feel very identified with some of the reflections in your video. Ultimately, what separates that mane from a bald head is only a good shave, whereas the reverse path is more complicated, and therein lies the value of your decision, to take the risk and achieve a formidable result.

The hair looks great, but … Honestly I’m mostly blown away to learn that Thomas Dolby is only 3 years older than me. That means that “The Flat Earth”, one of my favorite records of all time, was made by a 25 year old. While I was goofing around trying to figure out what life might someday hold for me, Thomas Dolby was creating music of incredible maturity, depth, and beauty. It’s astonishing, really. Once I’ve watched this video I’ll pull out “The Flat Earth” (vinyl that I’ve owned since 1984) for the umpteenth time and give it a spin. I just checked, and it’s right there at the head of the often-played material, where it belongs.

I'm 55 years old, and my hair is thinning a little bit in the front now. I always told myself that if I started losing my hair, I would just keep my head shaved. It really is stressing me out right now, which may be making it worse. My dad started losing his hair in his 20s, so I guess I'm lucky in that respect. I don't see myself taking this route for a few reasons, but everybody's different.

I noticed i was losing my hair at 18. Happened in stages. Anyway. If i were you, look at your diet. Get hormones checked. High levels of c i rtisol have something to do with it. Losing hair only reinforces it in some. If i had the cash id get mine dine. Since you only recently started losing it, look at those things. Goid luck.

@@henrystowe6217 I have had a couple of stressful years, so I believe you're correct. Cortisol is the cause.

This is so interesting! I have been seeing posts of recent shows from your tour and thinking to myself "he's so handsome!" without having an ah-ha moment of you now having a full head of hair. I saw you in Dallas in 1984 and was in love with your aesthetics from the start. I've always been a fan of a man with a clean pate. Now, being 60, I am losing my own hair from menopause and am experiencing fear and insecurity. So, I have a delayed empathy. Celebrate it ALL!! Enjoy it and have fun! You'll always be a beautiful man, no matter what.

Dear Mr Dolby. I too was sick and tired of being a bald middle-aged white guy, so now I identify as a bald middle-aged black guy! This comes with a whole raft of different problems, all of which have thankfully taken the focus off my hair! 😉👍 Joking aside, wishing you all the best from a fellow synth player who's Magnus Pyke impersonation stopped him from being bullied at school! Stay creative brother. ❤️🎹🇬🇧

Yeah as a bald middle aged black guy, it does come with its own issues, not least people feeling even more intimidated with you, than before (which is ready too high). Some of us have no choice though.

It's terrible how this has seeped in to the common vernacular as to be a bad a thing, intelligent man such as Thomas saying "white" guy like that, really sad, would never catch me doing that
