Lyrics
I have a picture pinned to my wall
An image of you and of me and we're laughing, we're loving it all
Look at our life now, we're tattered and torn
We fuss and we fight and delight in the tears and we cry until dawn
Hold me now, warm my heart
Stay with me, let loving start, let loving start
Hold me now, warm my heart
Stay with me, let loving start, let loving start

There's no more creativity in music anymore. It's always the same. The voices all sound the same and just can't capture the magic of the decades of old. Though contradictory to that statement there are a lot of amazing synth wave of today I discovered a lot of them through this retro wave wallpapers app on my phone that plays retro style synthwave music, my all time favorite would be this song called Still Haunting Me by Magic Dance. I highly recommend it, it needs to be heard. But in general the standard popular music is today just has no magic anymore.

This song popped into my head the other day, out of the blue. When it came out, It struck me hard at the time, 12, clueless, and skipping along the pond of life. 39 years later, I'm blown away at how well produced, arranged, and performed it is. The 80's just crushed it, and I'm lucky to have been coming of age at the time. It sent me on an 80's journey of music.

Speaking as an Englishman (for indeed I am one), I don't think we should overlook the Celtic nations contribution to popular music during this period and beyond. When describing the incredible music and talent that has sprung forth from these islands, we should always use the term 'British.' Not a criticism, just an observation.

I''m an 80s girl, and I've loved this song ever since it was released, and then my then-16 -year-old son made me love it even more about ten years ago. We were driving back home from some errand, had the radio tuned to our local "oldies" station. "Hold Me Now " comes on, and I'm singing along with it until we pull into our driveway, and I turn off the ignition just after the TTs sing the line "both of us searching for some perfect world we know we'll never find". In the silent car, before we get out, my kid turns to me and deadpans "Now they're REALLY never gonna find that perfect world." Treasure those moments with your kids!
