The M3 Grease Gun was better due the weight and the barrel can be changed in less than a minute. The barrels burned out quickly on both, yet the Thompson was a total tear down to replace and takes about an hour. In service , the magazines were rarely loaded by hand, you would take as many loaded magazines as you could carry ,then throw them on the ground. You never carried boxes of bullets. Dude, talk to some soldiers that used both.

rofl soldiers didn't love it, it was cheap, easy to get your hands on, used the same rounds as your side arm and due to the simple construction it was easy to clear in the field, which it required a lot because it had a poor design and will fail to cycle with literally less than half a teaspoon worth of sand getting into it

dude don't get so excited. This dude lives in Canada. Those are deactivated firearms. Nobody can have machine-guns, even if they know the Prime Minister. If you look at his M-16 platforms, there's no third hole. Also a good condition Thompson like a West-Hurley can be had for approximately $22k USD. The other ones are around 40K, and if there's one attributed to a gangster they go for around 65k. The M3's go for around $20-30k. Check out Rockisland auction house or Morphys auction. a brand new transferable pre-86 m16 can be had for $32-40k. A M60 upgraded to the E6 model can be had for around $75-90k. They recently jumped in price.

@BL Dontmatter you can defend yourself with force appropriate to the situation. Lots of people defend themselves with guns in Canada, but the cops and the judges will drag you through court and bankrupt you for doing so. I agree. I never shot a grease gun while in the Army, but I spent some time in my unit’s armory, and the grease gun (it was the early 90s, to be fair) was more like a rattle gun. They had been shot so much, the barrels on them and the 1911s were very loose. We were making room for the M9 and more A2s.

Love how the That model 28A1 of Thompson has the weight cuts and heat reduction spiral on the barrel, and were all machined by ✋ compared to the grease gun were very exspensive to make. Woulda been nice if you were at the range and fired it both. That magazine loader looked more awkward to use than stuffing cartridges one at a time in the magazine. Shoulda demoed this by stuffing cartridges into the magazine. Also failed to mention that on the grease gun, you feel what feels like two recoil impulses for every cartridge fired. First when the cartridge fires, second when the breach block hits the back of the receiver. Wonder what it would take to set the grease gun up to fire .45 Super. Shoulda manufactured a semiauto civilian-legal closed bolt version as a pistol-caliber carbine. They did this with the Uzi.

The "grease gun" was first issued to the Marines in WWII. It was so unreliable that when it jammed during an attack, the guns were tossed aside and abandoned as junk.

I love the grease gun because of how simple it is The safety is the dust cover, It's pretty easy to maintain, It looks funky (it's would look normal next to a stamped sheet metal 1911)

The grease gun resonates with me. Love the Thompson but the grease gun has sort of rugged homemade vibes which I like
