Wolf "Wolf" Schröder, former colour commentator in StarCraft2 and now of the LCK in League of Legends, is the star of the 340th Episode of 'Reflections'. This episode is part two of three about Wolf's career.
Wolf is one of the only expert level broadcast talents to work at the highest level in many different esports games and not simply as a novelty but committing to each entirely. Wolf made his name as an English language colour commentator on the GSL, working Code A in contrast to Artosis and Tasteless's Code S work, and most notably ProLeague, the team league which has always been one of the most prestigious Korean brands.
Some work in World of Tanks aside, Wolf's major transition was taking up Heroes of the Storm and covering that circuit for a number of years in its heydey. Overwatch was next, as he started with OGN's APEX tournament and eventually moved over to the Overwatch League itself, where he again established himself as a well liked expert, this time in an FPS-cum-MOBA.
In 2021 Wolf reunited with Brendan Valdes, his casting parter in SC2, by embracing League of Legends and taking a position on the LCK broadcast. He has since rapidly improved his scene and game knowledge to become a top expert in his own right in yet another genre of esports title.
In part two, Wolf talks about covering the greatest team and player in Heroes of the Storm history, tackling World of Tanks, his move to Overwatch and the Overwatch League and why he didn't continue there.
This interview was recorded on the 3rd of January, 2024.

oooo i remember wolf was the guy on the hots hgc desk that was comically harsh and realistic when it came to teams playing troll comps and ppl loved it or hated it but it was still very unique to the other personalities and it made the show all the better for it

I get what Wolf is saying about OW, it really felt like it was gonna be "game x". I mean I don't think it'd ever surpass League, but it definitely felt like it was gonna be forever huge in Korea. OGN did such an insane job with APEX, those tournaments were so hype and well produced (like everything OGN did). But then Blizzard had to shut the league down in order to make OWL and of course Contenders would never be as hype. And then OWL ultimately crumbled too.

I just gotta say I’m so impressed by how good thorins reflections go. It never feels like cards are left on the table. The questions he asks the interviewed person has freedom to what they want to say. Dunno how else to put it but it is really top tier high quality content. Ty !

HoTS got me into league actually. I learned what a moba was in 2015 after I tried HoTS. I was playing a shit load of hearthstone (still do) and HoTS was all over the Blizzard client so I tried it. By chance, the game had connection issues on my PC after I put maybe 10 hours in, so I ended up downloading league. There was an article on LoL Esports being promoted on that client when I got league downloaded headlined something like "clearlove says he is a better jungler than Bengi". That got me to MSI and have been an avid watcher since then! All that said, HoTS really was boring, never looked back!

I played HotS since the Alpha and kinda stopped after the pro scene died. I recently started playing League. You will find a lot of people who say the opposite about your last statement. The average league game might be 25-35mins while the average HotS game was 15-25. Sometimes even 10mins. A lot of people found HotS more fun because its more constant team fights over and over compared to League since the laning phase doesn't really last long and the game has multiple maps with different objectives compared to league's mere one. That said, I personally prefer league now and wish I played it a lot sooner.
