Tanner "Damonte", former Mid laner of Clutch Gaming and current Performance Coach of FlyQuest, is the star of the 409th Episode of 'Reflections'. This is episode one of two about Damonte's career.
Damonte for much of his career had to earn a starting spot over a more established Mid laner. In Echo Fox that meant playing instead of EU legend Froggen and the next year Korean Fenix. That changed in Clutch Gaming and Damonte arguably had the best period of his career, fondly remembered for his Qiyana prowess and qualifying to Worlds in S9.
Despite that year he ended up having to fight for a starting spot again and that led him to Golden Guardians where he and his team-mates would defeat Bjergsen's TSM in an upper bracket sweep in S10 Summer play-offs and almost repeated the feat in the lower bracket before being reverse swept.
Later years were wasted in Dignitas and playing Academy. It wouldn't be until Damonte took up coaching he again got to have a meaningful impact. He position coached Palafox in NRG and the team famously won S13 Summer and made top eight at Worlds. He has since moved on to FlyQuest as their Performance coach and they made it to the final of the LCS last split.
In part one, Damonte talks about breaking into the LCS, being stuck behind names like Froggen and Fenix, working with Huni, going to S9 Worlds, battling Jensen and Bjergsen and how he ended up in GGS.
This interview was recorded on the 1st of July, 2024.

I always thought damonte was a pretty good midlaner especially when the team he was on actually committed to him instead of always treating him as a sub (which surprisingly happened a lot lol) and he played in an era where literally every other midlaner besides him and polbelter (past his prime) was an import

It’s sad that he got pushed out of the lcs. I feel like he had a lot more potential if he had just been put on a solid team. It was awesome having an actual NA midlane. I hope he gets another shot even if it’s unlikely
