Here at WildeBeard (will-duh beard) Review, we like comics especially Marvel’s Merry Mutants, The X-Men! Every week I do a weekly pull list video or live stream called “What’s On Your Pull List?” where I talk about all the new comics I’m excited for that week! Then, starting on Wednesday, you’ll find in depth reviews of a selection of that week's new comics with a heavy positivity bias! I like what I read and I read what I like!

Marvel comics has the story of Gaea the Elder Goddess being Thor's mother. I remember that going back to 70s if not 60s. Odin approached the Elder Goddess (in her form of Jord) to bear Thor. After being birthed on Earth/Midgard, then Odin brought the weaned baby to Asgard and his wife Frigga raised him as her own. Then recently the Avengers writer has tried to rewrite things to have a MORTAL woman be Thor's mother. Sure the woman was host to the Phoenix Force, but still she was a mortal woman. Thor's always had a connection to Earth, but first time I personally recall Thor using that as a power source was in the Empyre event where he made a world bloom for the Coati to inhabit. There was suppose to be a Thor:Empyre one-shot comic that was suppose to explore the connection between Thor & Gaea. But thanks to the pandemic it was one of several comics that was cancelled.

The Gaea connection was first revealed in Thor #300 (1980). Asgard...indeed the entire Earth was about to have judgment passed on them , resulting in being destroyed by the Celestials. Gaea then shows up, and reveals Thor as being her blood son. Along with her she has brought the Young Gods that represented mankind's highest ideals. Earth was spared. The arc leading up to all this was quite complex, and my brief synopsis here just skims the top of all that transpired. Anyway, I hope Thor #22 undoes Jason Aaron's "pHoEnIx Iz tHoR's bAbEe mAmA!" fever dream.
