Very nice video. I usually don’t comment, but in this case, I make an exception. I am thinking about getting myself one of this knife, so this is very helpful. Looking forward to more of your testing. Nice that your family is involved.

I have an older model of this knife, which I have had for some years. It is essentially the same, but has a less pronounced curve to the hilt. It is a tough and reliable knife. The only downside is that the carbon steel it is made from is exceptionally prone to rust. I know all carbon steel requires a certain amount of TLC, but mine will go rusty if I even think of taking it out on a damp day. However, I have given it a patina using vinegar, which actually looks pretty cool, and cures the rust problem.l

Hi Anthony, thx for sharing, Its always a compromise in terms of blade material, Pros and cons :)Nice ideer to make it in to a Patina :)

Dry it after use and apply a little bee's wax before storing stops rust from forming!
@greekveteran2715
@greekveteran2715 Жыл бұрын
@@1stinlastout165 Spot on man! For longer storage, use both wax and oil and never put the knife or the axe on a leather sheath, when you're not going to use it for a long time. The sheath collects moisture like crazy and it will rust the blade in no time!! For simple maintenance, if you use your tools occasionally, either oil, wax or Vaseline, all work ok!

Hi Garry, from wonderful Scotland.. Casström holds all the way, steel is good, and the knife is made to last, if I wantede even better steel I would take a fällkniven :)

What Knife do you like to use between F1, Enzo Trapper, #10 and Varusteleka (why)(how)... also regarding quality what is the best quality in your opinion (steel and handle materials)? Thanks.
@Thoristesting
@Thoristesting 7 жыл бұрын
Alaska Raft Connection - Alaska-BushRafter , hi there, wow that's a hard question, when u say Varusteleka, do u mean the Terävä? Theres are all very good knifes that will last u a lifetime, but the price is also very different ranging from 500 SKR to 1200 SKR. also what do u want to use it for basic camp knife or all around survival. And lastly the look of the knife, is it important that it is a nice looking knife. I have always though that Fällkniven makes one of the best knife in the world, hands down. But this Casström is one of the niceest looking knife I have had my hands on, and it is simply a well built knife, that can it all. The trapper is also very nice and cheaper than the others. The terävä, is a no bullshit knife, not preatty but a hell of a knife to a well price. So u question Fällkniven have a awesome blade material, I really like the Handel on Casström, on a budget I would chose the terävä. Hmmmmm right now for a camp knife I could take in the woods, for a shorter period, and also a knife I could were for formal dinner 🤓.

Thank you... yep!!! funny similar experiences here in Alaska... The F1 in VG10 coated version is one I've had for awhile... this is an simple yet exceptional functional design, construction, and materials. I find it's high cards are efficiency with durability plus stainless. That said, my MORA Bushcraft survival orange package goes more places and get more multi-use. The handle/grip is so good! I have used the SKRAMA as an ultra-reliable, accurate, and efficient medium/large utility knife (excellent!!!)... however I'd think that on a 110-140mm puukko version that the over-size lanyard would take away from the handle comfort. The Enzo Trapper is relatively known here in USA, but no walk-in typical storefronts will have them. I like the looks of the Cass #10 and the handle is most intriguing. I may get it with green micarta in O2. Mainly comparison of Enzo Trapper O1 & Cass #10 O2. Thank you.
@Thoristesting
@Thoristesting 7 жыл бұрын
The F1 is simply a class knife, hands down, he he, I actualy also use my mora survival a bunch, its just a nice knife. Ahh the Skrama, great knife, Large mf. if im up in that class i mostly go with my A1 or my Strömeng Puuko (traditional Same knife) will be doing a review on it at spring. Im not sure i know what u mean about the Terävä landyard I think it has a great handel very nice. The Enzo trapper is just a sturdy good and pretty knife. But this Casström it is just, well great, it handels well with its thick blade, and very comfetable handel, and its just the most lovely knife to look at :) The trapper and the Casström are reely mush alike, Casström is a bit more expensive, but u can feel it to.So if ur on a budget, take the Enzo, if ur not pick the Casström

Good review, i didnt get from which steel this knife was made. I like that you review scandinavian knives. Where do you get these cool scandi blades? Near Karlstad i could not find a good store for knives or outdoor stuff. My friend lives in Uddeholm so ill be back in Sweden soon. Greetings! Haha i didnt wait untit the end of the film for the specs.

The one Thor mentioned and also www.brisa.fi It is Finish but they ship worldwide. You can not only find the finished product there but also blanks, kits, sheath material, etc. Anything you need if you want to build your own knife/handle/sheath. I live in Holland and the last knife I ordered there arrived from Finland to Holland in 24 hours!

Say Heah, and Cheers. I just got a Karesuando 10 Hunter Knife. I bought it to team with my Karesuando 9" Unna Aksu Hunter Axe. Yeah, I wanted another Scandinavian Traditional Set. Infact I have a nice 3Knife Stromeng Set also. I have the KS-9 Leuku the same knife Lars Munson used as his main knife when he crossed Canada, Yeah, Check that video out on KZfaq. I also have a 5" KS-5 which is used by children and women in the kitchen and for young children to start using a knife a Saame People Tradition. Oh, and the Bhuku STAK. I also like to add my Wood Handle Fiskar Power Teeth Folding Saw with my Stromeng's. But what a bummer, I just found out that the Tang only goes in 2 1/ 2" into the handle. I hope it's made strong. I don't baton alot, but I do sometimes to get into some dry wood to make kindling to start a fire. I hope it will hold up. Dilly Dilly.,,.p

Did you try the Casström woodsman? Love the "svartek" bog oak (?) scales but not sure about the blade length. Would love a comparison to a Mora, the F1 or even EKA Nordic W12?
@Thoristesting
@Thoristesting 7 жыл бұрын
Tomas Lepp, no I have not tried the woodsman, but by the look of it it's a nice knife, blade length, it depends on what u will use it for, in my opinion 10 cm length is the smallest for doing chopping and battoning for firewood, but the often make excellent shavers, so it kind of depends on what u will use it for. I have tested the f1, which Mora? I'll be testing the Eka in the spring, so stay tune😀👍

Thor-is-testing Not sure what more, would just like to see size compared to "an average mora". Reground my EKA W12 to true scandi. It came with secondary bevel that made it very hard to featherstick. Now I love it.
