If you were confused Thorfinn couldn't understand those people because they spoke English and he is a Dane. The only english word he spoke in this episode was run.

This part hurt for me, personally, especially when I read this part in the manga. That old lady looked at Thorfinn and realized that the young man is like any other kid, but has gone down the wrong path 😫😩

No one said that Vinland Saga was a touching and heartfelt show :). People came in expecting Shounen, and got Seinen instead

@@nnightkingj because most end up with the good guys winning, almost no major deaths, and redeeming bad guys. I know not all are, but shounen are mainly aimed at young teens

Amal M that’s not just shined that’s fiction in general including seinen plenty/most have major deaths it’s a troupe to motivate the main character and redeeming bad guys is major it’s all over Naruto for example the biggest thing that seperates shonen and seinen is the gore and brutality and more suggestive themes

Vinland Saga is a very dark Seinen story and shows pretty well and faithfully the cruelty and brutality of that time. Its not a anime for fairy tail lovers

beastmasterbg only the action scenes are exaggerated for entertainment only. Other than that it’s pretty realistic. Especially small teenagers back in the Viking era. Since there bodies were strong but small, they were fast as hell which allowed them to easily kill the huge, slow Vikings which are around 6’3+

Shinsuke - sama they wouldn’t care even if they did, I mean burning villages was a widely used tactic when at war in the Middle Ages it was used to essentially force a King or lord out of his castle which are very hard to siege because many Kings and lords wouldn’t want their main source of income via tax being raided and pillaged.

I think this episode represents the idea that Thorfinn could have left this life of murder and just lived a normal life as a normal kid, but he threw that away in his desire for revenge. Really sad stuff

Yeah I definitely recommend watching something light hearted like doctor stone after an episode of this for your own sanity. Don't get me wrong this anime isn't all doom and gloom but this episode and especially episode 14 are pretty dark
