Since this weapon can only be dropped via a glitch, its not programmed to be held by an enemy and the code simply defaults to an error handler code which says that if weapon cannot be identified properly damage values will always be equal to 1/4 of a heart piece.

I think the issue is with the item's data values, while yes it does count as a weapon, when it's in Link's hands it sacrifices his health for endless damage. While in the hands of a Moblin or Bokoblin it doesn't sacrifice their health, since you can't drain it like you do with Link

Either this or the weapon itself increases Link's base attack value by a lot instead of the weapon having the attack value.

I think that the one hit kill is bound to the location, outside of the trial the weapon deal the least amount of damage possible

I think whatever weapon you use when picking up the one hit obliterator gives it that weapons base damage, that is covered up by infinite weapon damage. Keep in mind he has a korok leaf a lot of the time so he probably got the one hit obliterator with the korok leaf.

@@ThornyFox because the one hit obliterator probably does just 1/4 a heart of damage but when PLAYER holds it it probably just does the 1/4 heart and then the game just kills whatever the PLAYER hits when holding the weapon but because its probably not coded to just kill the thing it hits when its a monster.

It doesn’t work because technically the one hit obliterator only does 0.25 damage but the coders made it so that when fully boosted in the players hand because they made the cooldown in the player class. Which is why it doesn’t even change color when you get hit by it from a mob.

The transitions were really interesting, but something about the video just felt... off. I don't know why. Anyway, I feel like you'd know this, but the reason why it doesn't work is because the OHO has a base damage of 1, and it becomes infinity when the trial is underway and link has it.

Yeah I knew it worked that way with Link when you do the glitch to keep it, I just thought it might be different with monsters. Especially since it glows on the Plateau. But can't say I'm TOO surprised with the results.

Reasons maybe why the 1-hit obliterator doesnt actually 1-tap link: 1. Dispite the weapon having infinite damage to MOSTERS. it only does a quarter to link. eitehr because they aren't the hero thus wont listen. or because link is the hero that's ment to wield them thus the obliterator REFUSES to damage link fatally. 2. Funny coding thing where the damage values are actually entirely seperate. small damage with monsters holding it but big damage when link uses it. 3. I have no clue but hey speculation is fun

My guess is since it’s not link holding it it just does the damage of that boko hitting you but it looks like it’s using the one hit obliterator. That’s my guess

My guess is that it only does the one hit kill in a special "mode". The flag didn't fully trigger to switch to that mode, due to the Trial of Wood glitch. Something that should have been tested is if it did one hit kills in Link's hand after leaving the great plateau.

To be fair, you only have a quarter heart during the quest where you use the one hit obliterator, so, if you were actually in the quest, the monsters would be able to one-hit you with it ;)

I'm currently studying game design and I have a theory to what could be happening. I think the moment link holds the obliterator every enemy has their health set to 1 like you, so that's why when you're hit by the bokoblins, you only take 1 damage cuz it only needs to deal 1 damage to kill anything :D

Actually when you look at the sword’s damage, it has unlimited power, so I presume it’s around 15,000 or something (so it can one shot everything). And yes, that’s why your theory can be easily debunked with the champion’s tunic.

The reason why the one hit obliterator did not work on you was because it technically counted as it not being charged and so it only dealt one damage and plus the player characters never meant to get hit by that weapons so of course it's going to use the lowest damage possible I'm pretty sure there is one for the master sword as well but if I remember it has a unique animation when you drop it so you can't get enemies to pick it up

Monsters lack the ability to utilize weapons to there full potential. Their weapons never break because they are not swinging them nearly as hard as Link does.

Actually, it only doing 1/4 Heart of Dmg to Link makes sense. It would've been programmed that way, since Link is supposed to only HAVE that much. There was no reason to have it do more dmg, cause they probably didn't think other would find glitches to circumvent it.

You can explain this by arguing Bokos and Moblins don't have any life energy for the One-Hit Obliterator to sap in exchange for power as they're just undead creatures from Ganon, so the One-Hit Obliterator only really works in the hands of a living creature not monsters

I know what’s weird about about it. The game is coded only for link to one hit enemies. Not for enemies to kill you. Still, If you get hit with the one hit obliterator equipped, you will immediately die because you’ll only have 1 health (The first quarter of the first heart that you have)

Probably because the one hit obliterator does crit when it glows blue but the diesnt charge up when wielded by an enemy. If not a crit it does like 1 damage

It's pretty obvious that the obliterator obliterates evil. It makes sense for the sheikahs to make sure the weapon can't be use by evil monsters against good heros, if they lost the weapon during a fight.

The in universe lore-based reason: the monsters are unworthy to wield the power. Practical game logic: the monsters were never programmed to hold that weapon so that's why it's so weak.
