I had an ottb, and oh my god let me tell you. Every once in a while I let him completely stretch out and just run as fast as he wants to. It was a breathtaking experience, and I really hope everyone gets to experience such a thrill at least once.

Wow, what a great video! The beginning is an excellent example, how an excellent rider convinces an unwilling horse to do what she wants him to do: You ask him to enter that field - and he flatly refuses, tells you, that he does not want to, uses some bucks and even an attempterd rear to get away from that gate. But you remain absolutely calm and handle the situation in a perfect way, using his rear power for a swing back and make him jump onto the field. And then he accepts your leadership, still bucking to tell you, that he is not willing to be an easy ride - he definitely asks for a really good rider !!! Later on, when you allow him to race uphill, he is entirely your good boy, grateful that you allow him such a run. Thus you can present yourself in one video as a bronco riding cowgirl and a racing jockey. Well done, Amy - looking forward for more adventures on Buzz!

I think you sat in the saddle great when your horse started to be a little "frisky", trust me it is a lot harder to stay in a saddle then most people think . You did great ! Btw your horse takes beautiful strides !!

Soon as I saw Buzz acting up and napping in front of that gate - I thought of my old livery yard turnout field where the earth in the gateway had worn down so much that the transfer cable to the electric fence had damaged insulation so much so that most horses had some kind of shock. Most of the liveries came up with fabulous reasons for all the baulking going on - ghosts in the wood pile, aliens and dodgy horoscopes - all cured by a few metres of garden hose. I've been around all sorts of horses for over sixty years and still love to see videos like this one. A good example of sensitive riding! Good use of free reins - no thrashings or boots in the ribs ( I'll even forgive the slight leg swish in the circumstances as Eventing is a long way from Dressage haut l'ecole !) Big temptation to gallop a capable horse - even the untrained know how it's done! A few can do it backwards. Keep on keeping on and post some more as your training continues.

I used to do that bareback on my 6 yr old Quarter Horse gelding. So exhilarating to feel the muscles under you at speed. Of course, I was 12 and fearless! Good job getting him over the ditch and riding thru his freshness!

I used to own a full thoroughbred mare, she was a racehorse before she got to old, she was a great horse and I loved to run her like that!

Galloping that fast on a horse is so exhilarating! Just the wind blowing on your face and it's s million times better when the horse (like yours) is super happy during the ride!!

Pro-trip: If you want to clock your horse without a car driving alongside, film the ride with a helmet camera. Then measure the distance you rode on Google Earth (which has a built-in ruler, and the field or trail you rode on is easy to see). That gives you distance and time for the ride; you do the math!

im a beginner horse rider, i quit horse riding when i was 4 because i got kicked off, and ive always been afraid of horses.. but theyre just so elegent so i gave in.. im now riding a beautiful gypsy cob called johnny and we have a great bond and im so happy :) im only learning how to trot without a lead but im getting there :))

You see horses love to run but when they’re run to young like racehorse they frequently break bones and get hurt and die. Horses should only be run as much as they want, beautiful example of what a real happy thoroughbreds

That is so cool! The fastest i went was 36 miles per hour on my Arabian mix mare. We are entering in a fun race in a few weeks and im confident we will do pretty good!

Why is everyone bitching about her pulling on the bit? I mean guys? Of course its bad to pull a horse hard and its painful, but for a great rider, like she is apprently, it's perfectly okay to pull at it lightly, because he was apparently having a small refuse. He stepped backed as he reared, and she used the reins to turn him back to the field. Why the heck would she PULL on the bit? She just used it like its supposed to be used. If the horse was it pain, believe me that a collos like a young thoroughbred wouldnt just go with "i'll be a good boy after a few rears to show my attitude." If he was in bad pain and was uncomfy, he wouldn't even step near that field. She had great control, and sometimes, for young horses with tornados stuffed in them, bit is the last drop that they need to be controled. Not all can get away with hackamore or parelli, let her be. She did a great job.
