A rather shambolic Thorpe Park Ghost Train opening day as the ride opened two hours later than planned. We did eventually get to experience it though and bring you this Thorpe Park Ghost Train review.
Operations around the park have been superb all day with Stealth staff absolutely smashing it so I can only imagine it was a ride system error that caused the opening day delay to the Ghost Train ride.

Thank you! I mean there’s an effect on the train I liked and the new design is okay but it’s removed the wow factor that the floating train had, there’s no real wow factor there anymore which is a shame but there we go. It was never beating Curse or Valhalla (when effects are fully operational) was it?

I'm excited to give it a ride next month. Everyone seems really positive about it. About time TP had a decent dark ride/experience...gotta be better than the old experience.

Yeah everyone was positive about it last night and got my hopes up but it’s not a dark ride anymore mate. It’s theatre.

@Lift Hills and Thrills 😒 oh dear...another "one and done" hey! I'll give it a go, but I'm not expecting much at all. Sounds like the entire experience is in the hands of the actors...if you get a tired/unenthusiastic actor, the experience will fall flat quick!

Thorpe always seem to do actor led attractions and after countless failures over the years, you think they would stop doing it and put the money towards a new or refurbished flat / dark ride instead. I was nervous about what this would become when I found they were getting rid of the floating illusion.

Literally the best and most unique part of the ride gone.. no screens to simulate the movement etc… deary me 😑 AT dungeons are failing for a reason but at least this is included in the entry fee right… 😬

Great opening day vlog! 🎉 The opening day was absolute carnage so unorganized, and after the 3 hr queue (although not Thorpe's fault) our ride experience was ruined by people on our ride kicking off at the staff in the fake gift shop scene so we didn't get that scene at all was quite annoying. But overall i agree its an okay ride but feels like half a story and incredibly incohesive

It was nice to meet and speak to you in person. I totally agree about the delay situation. I honestly think Thorpe could of done better with sorting out the situation better for guests. I wanted to film the opening speech like you did aswell but obviously we were stuck behind the bushes. The main positive thing about today was chatting to so many Enthusiasts and that's what i like about days like this. Another thing was the atmosphere from the guests at Ghost Train mainly in the Quaue cheering and when they were clapping at the end of the ride. 150 mins doesn't surprise me but one point 3hrs it said. I really like the improvements on Ghost Train especially mainly on the Train. I thought the cast did a great job at performing aswell. Ive noticed two sections that need more work but will see what happens in the future?

Cast were great, can’t deny that but they’re definitely carrying the entire experience and I just feel that’s a VERY big building for a very straightforward show even the ride system now doesn’t seem to be effectively delivered simply acting as a transport system without the ‘illusion’ that made it so special. Great to meet you too and the claps were funny as most were sarcastic claps and cheers when people’s numbers were called because of how long we’d had to wait 😂

@@LiftHillsandThrills I totally understand what you mean about the ride system. The ride system is very unique compared to any ride in the world but what made it special was that and the VR clashing as it was part of the illusion. Yes definitely 😂😂. Enjoy Nemsis Sub Terra tomorrow.

I did Ghost Train yesterday and hand on heart it’s one of the worst attractions I’ve ever done !! Everyone in the group was in was laughing the whole way round and saying “what a waste of our day” it’s terrible !!! Don’t waste your time, the train back at the end of the best bit, the flying thing in the crypt didn’t work on my run through lol

everyone was packed in when we all got back to the queue at 2ppm aha but 100% agree with you, definitely certain parts where I was disappointed in then also other parts that I also thought was really good, i.e preshow good, then bland, then felt like it got dragged on abit before it was then good then the very end was just a bit boring. Honestly not worth the hour wait before we got told about the delay till 2pm is all I could say ahah

Pre show was decent and crypt area looks good although lazy to just theme one wall and not create a full room but corner cutting at its finest I guess.

😂 reminded me of the cheap shit you get from Spirit Halloween or something. At a low budget attraction you forgive it but inside one of the parks most expensive rides 😂😂😂😂😂

It’s the same ride system but most of what made it unique and wonderful has now been transformed into a simple transport mimicking system. It’s just not good 😞 it’s not a ghost train and it’s not even a ride as such.. more moving theatre

The ride unfortunately didn’t live up to what I was hoping for, the actors were great and it’s an alright experience but the space they had there had a lot more potential. The walk part of the ride to the crypt I felt could’ve been better themed as the walls were very bland, hopefully they add to it over time but as you say it isn’t that much of a dark ride more a theatrical experience. A decent attempt by Thorpe but sadly felt very similar to Derren in some scenes. Hope you had a great day though, spotted myself a couple times in the background lol!

Did it today and was hoping it would leave more of an impact really. I loved the intro but the first train ride towards the crypt needs more in the way of scares as opposed to people telling us about it. The fake shop didn’t work for me, I knew exactly what was coming, despite the first train ride not doing a lot I felt the experience built up nicely but was let down by a stunt I’ve seen multiple times before (aside from the extension) . Everything else is new and I feel the attraction would benefit with a big powerhouse final that we’ve not seen before . Slightly underwhelming. It will be interesting to see how this pans out given there history with dark rides .

Intro was actually good! Then it all went to shit… crypt was nice, Curse At Alton Manor queue line effect was nice, actors smashed it after given so little to work with then that’s about it as far as my compliments go.

It’s because I said I was in Abu Dhabi and couldn’t make it then when I managed get some rest and got a way of getting to London from arriving in Manc that morning I messaged back to say I could attend and they said they were full. Nevermind. Next one hopefully 🤞

I wasn’t that impressed with Darren Brown all I used to get was doggy headsets and people screaming for nothing but looking forward to ghost train tho but wouldn’t fancy a 3hr wait thanks again Sean 👻

Not worth a 30 min wait let alone the 3 hours we waited but gotta give the actors credit doing the best with what they’ve got around them and doing it well.
