Safety measures have and still continue to shape how our railways operate. For safety reasons, sometimes a locomotive itself can change. Take these for example: what once were handsome 4-6-4 'Baltic' tank engines, were rebuilt into 4-6-0 tender engines. But how did the new class N15x fare...
THIS IS A REUPLOAD FIXING AN OMISSION IN THE SCRIPT. The second render had issues so I built the second, third and fourth layer from the ground up to fix it. Enjoy :)

To be honest, the LBSCR L class is one of my favourite tank engines to ever work on British railways. (My other favourites being the LBSCR E2, Adams radial tank, LMS Fowler 2F, and the BR standard 4 2-6-4T)

The SECR River Class involved in the accident at Severnoaks were so notorious for their rolling motion at speed that they were nicknamed by loco-men as the Rolling Rivers. This was due to their high centre of gravity and their relatively hard springing, especially on the leading Bissell truck which caused unpredictable lurching on the poorly laid track of the former SECR and LBSR. The framing of this class was also substandard and contributed to their rough riding. The were also rebuilt into tender locomotives become the SR Class U. Macrae is pronounced as Mack-Ray. It's a Scots name meaning the son [the Mac part] of Rae

I honestly prefer the unrebuilt N15X’s (LB&SCR L’s) more.

4:12 Little note here, the extended tank E2s werent classified E2X (merely just known as the second series E2s). A more significant change(s) would be needed for it to be classified X. (ex. The E1X). The E2X is what a lot of Thomas fans call Thomas's rebuild after the crash into the station masters house, where he was given a straight running board and the smokebox saddle was changed

Actually I based my knowledge of the reclassification of the extended tank members of the E2 class from Chris Eden-Green, though I was certain I've read it somewhere else before that. Oh well, on the pile with mistakes made when making this series it goes.

In my opinion the DB classes 10 and classes 18.5 and 98.3 as well as the class 96 were cool I'm a fan of Steam engines

May I request a episode on a Canadian loco/loco class? As a Canadian just getting into trains there doesn't seem to be a lot of talk about our locomotives. Of course in the end it is your channel, so I can't force you to do one, but I know it would be much appreciated by any Canadian railway fans. My first recommendation would be one of the Selkirks (specifically the T1c class since it was the only one that had any preserved locos) but there are probably quite a few others well worth a video. Thanks, and have a good one!

The L class should of been left has it was. the S.R. tenders for the N15X's should have been bigger, and the 4-6-4 wheel arrangement should have been kept too. because why not? ultimately the L class were good locomotives to begin with, but were brought down by a "under engineered" overhaul

There was no work for them as electrified lines spread. They were rebuilt to match the existing N15’s but were found lacking in speed and so relegated to lesser duties. They all had relatively long lives but were never really a top end express loco after rebuilding.

Anymore railways that make or own express tanks?. The Dutch east indies state railway ordered 58 4-6-4 tank engines classified ss1300 (numbered C28 after Japanese occupation) despite also owning tender express engines
@FlyingScott
@FlyingScott 2 жыл бұрын
The London & South Western Railway had their M7 0-4-4 tanks for express work, the South Eastern & Chatham Railway had their K and K1 'River' class (the class involved in the Sevenoaks derailment), of course the Great Western used their massive Pierson tanks and 'County' tanks, the Hungarian State Railways or MÁV class 242s, the South Manchuria Railway of China have their class LD1s, and of course the DB had their BR 61. To name but a few.

Though not an Express tank engine, the Boston and Albany Railroad had a fleet of 4-6-6 tank engines for commuter services. They more or less looked like tank engine versions of the New York Central J Class Hudson.
