I realize Sebastian always provides a ton of material for vocal coaches to analyze and evaluate. I don’t know if he has ever gotten enough credit for being such a strong metal singer. So I’m glad to see voice teachers really outline his powerful vocal performances.

It was written by Seb for his friend Steven Adler (drummer in Guns N Roses) about his drug addiction. It meant a great deal to Seb and you can tell.

"Quicksand Jesus" is probably the next song. He hits even higher notes at the end of the song, plus simmular ones to this song, if you want to do a third song to get most of the power ballad side. "In a Darkened Room" is one too, but it has simmular qualities of "I Remember You" but darker song about child abuse/assault.

I didn't mind all the interruptions. Frankly, I appreciated them because the look of excitement and awe on your face was priceless. IMO, it's why so many Bas fans suggested this song as the follow up to I Remember You. We all know how amazing Sebastian is, but wanted to hear you teach us why. Your next listen should be Slave to the Grind, Monkey Business, In a Darkened Room, or Quicksand Jesus.

A classic from them and one of the best of an era. Not only a great song, lyrics and performance but an absolute amazing vocal performance that cuts down to the bone. On a side note: your reaction and analysis is truly fetching, as the Brits said back in the 60's-lol.

Steven Adler was the original drummer that fell into the throes of Heroin addiction to the point of having a debilitating stroke, this pain is real for skid row, who tried and failed to stop this downward spiral.

I will always remember seeing Skid Row in 1990. They opened up for Aerosmith. Sebastian was just as good live. Of course, when I saw them, Slave To The Grind album had not come out yet. Sebastian and Skid Row parted ways some time in the 90's. Skid Row has had a few singers front the band since then. Sebastian has his solo stuff and apparently still has quite the voice. He's not the same(over time, are any of us?), but according to a friend of mine who saw him in Toronto last year. He's still pretty good. Anyway, this was the 1st video of yours that I've seen. Quite enjoyed it, loved your analysis and appreciation of Mr. Bach. Someone in the comments already suggested to check out "Quicksand Jesus". I agree with that choice. But might I also recommend "In A Darkened Room"? Loved the video. Keep up the GREAT work, you have a new subscriber! 🙂🙂🙂

I'm just writing, I knew you would definitely like it, I recommended this song to you once (recently)... Thanks for your reaction! One thing: remember that metal music has certain rules, if we want to sing about: love, beauty, Pocahontas, Unicorns, Dream Theater, pop metal, etc. - we use the Major scale... - if the topic is God (negative context), death, failure, betrayal, lack of beer, life in general sucks - it will definitely be Minor. I know, I've been listening and playing this music for almost 40 years, and I'm a professional in reacting to metal music. Warm regards, Jennifer btw: I recommend Opeth (whatever you want, my favorite band, I'm sure patrons will write something to you, if not let me know).

Sebastian Bach was such a good looking dude in his youth that a lot of people had a hard time noticing what a great rock vocalist the guy was. Watching videos of him I was always asking myself "does this guy have a twin sister?". Well, nowadays, even though he's still a good singer..... he looks like a crazy Karen losing her sxxxt. Rock on, Sebs. Love you.

Funny thing about all the technical analysis is that I'd bet Bach - to this day - would have no clue what you're talking about. Hard to imagine that one of the biggest a-holes in rock would have the discipline to study voice technique.

I really enjoy your videos, and I understand that you're breaking down the vocal performance, but you completely destroy the emotion of a song like this by stopping right in the middle of a vocal. Maybe let it play through to a vocal break and then stop and analyze.

Talk to much. You've got lots of information and knowledge but you chop it up to much ruins the flow of the song. Some singers such as Bach sing like a guitar solo. You don't stop when he's going.

@@motley22crue a little bit of both. Sure, I've heard the song a million times. And I actually do listen to the breakdowns of them. BUT, if this was her first true experience hearing the song, how is it possible to understand what is being done with the pauses every few seconds. The Charismatic Voice, the Vocalist , also pause a lot-with great details, but don't typically drone on and on like in this case.

One of the joys of being in my mid 50’s now was being in my early/mid twenties in the late 80’s and early nineties. I saw Skid Row so many times. Sebastian sounded AMAZING live and was (is?) an excellent frontman. There were some primitive versions of autotune available back then, but for most bands, what you see is what you got. It was a fantastic time to be young and to be a rock fan.
