Sometimes you think you're doing what's best for your bike by taking it to a trusted mechanic. But this is where you realize that if something is done by a person, there is always room for human error. This beautiful bike came in from out of town, before it is placed on the Dyno, everything was inspected!!! Unfortunately, the chain seem secure, but it was not. Something we did not realize until after moving it over 100 mph! Everyone in this video is OK and fortunately it happened in a secure location instead of on the streets!

Chains have a wear limit, and also have a compound power, torque, weight, and resistance limit (Power & Torque and Work Load) strapping the wheel down on a dyno takes the traction off of the weak link list and if your primary drive is solid the chain takes over

10 bucks says the chain was too tight. Many people don't realize that a motorcycle chain tightens as the swingarm moves upward. Extending the swingarm by 6-8 inches not only lengthens the chain but also amplifies the degree to which it stretches. Additionally, the increased swingarm length also decreases the weight required to compress the rear suspension. Add these two together and with enough torque... POP.
@mrgjr8758 for me it varies. If she's not that attractive it usually stays around 6. If she's very attractive then I'll get the full 8.

Clip style or rivited, makes ZERO difference in this situation. The most common cause of drive chain breakage IS metal failure. The usual culprit being a simple single drop of battery acid on one side plate. It causes a change in the tensile strength or temper of the steel and the link becomes soft. A chain is only as strong as its weakest link. Hth.
