For people who mostly know how to play it, with some different strategies on the jams

I've not played eyes before even tho it's among my top dead tunes. Your lesson gave me enough clues to navigate it which is what I was needing. Now on to the looper to lay some rhythms down and start working on the jams!!

I sat out in the 105 degree heat today and played Eyes, and the heat always changes how you play. Makes me think pot the 8-27-72 ,Oregon show where it was 104, and how that show feels so summery....

Fantastic! I often think if Jerry had not died there would only be the dead and very few of the cover bands. His absence has sparked a diaspora of jamming across all levels of Dead playing...

Just found your channel Cliff - this is great stuff! So much going on between Bob & Jerry I find it inspires improvisation when I'm playing. My hands can't handle the Garcia voicing either at this point!

I love both voicings, but my hands are too small for all the bobby-isms... like the first chord pull off at the start of feel like a stranger..

Right after "lazy summer home" at 2:28 where Bobby is doing that little lick, I've been playing a quick e6 to eM7 fill just before (and in time with) the Bm to A. It seems to go under the lick perfectly but I'm not sure I hear it or maybe I hear the piano doing it. e6 to EM7 is that awkward bit you showed in the intro where you said you prefer C#m to EM7 (as 4th fret partial bar).

I listened to the Wake of the flood version and bobby is doing the standard lick I show, but Jerry is doing a tasty little counter lick.... I'm curious to see what you are doing there, as I'm sure its also good!

@@vedantus Thanks! I'm not doing a lick, it's more like a 2 chord fill. If you listen to this one: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nN50pNyCuLDRgIk.html - it's the 4 piano beats mostly on 1 minute and 22 seconds - on guitar I do that quick E6 down to EM7, it's like a fill just before the Bm to A slam - and I think right where that little Bobby lick is happening.

I usually do the intro as Emaj7 to A to E (E in the C-shape started on the fourth fret). I see your doing of the intro from Emaj7 to C#m to B, thoughts on this?

Strictly speaking its Emaj7 to A to Emaj7 again, just a different voicing. YTHe way Garcia plays it is tough on regular mortals hands, so I get the bulk of it by what I am referring to as a B but it only the 2-3-4- strings of it, a partial chord
