Omgggg!!! I just bought this book yesterday!! It’s currently on my TBR. I’m hoping I’ll enjoy it!!

Hi 👋🏾👋🏾 I read The Familiar awhile ago. If my memory serves correct, the familiar is defined by Santangel as "a servant". Luzia was a servant and held a servitude mentality she also was a servant to hiding her Jewish faith even though she had magical powers. Santangel was a servant as a result of a manipulation upon his luck aura. Aunt Hualit and Valentina (owner) are servants to their status quo. Victor is a servant to anything that will ruin his empire. At least Luzia and Santangel released themselves from bondage. Just my thoughts.. I loved the book and was crushing on Santangel!!!😍😘🤣

I enjoyed The Familiar. It reads like a Jewish-inspired type of fable. If you read the author's note, Leigh did a LOTTT of historical research....she just didnt seem to fully utilize that knowledge? lol I agree that I wanted a little "more" from it & that Luzia's character read a bit young, but overall it was a good book with some solid writing & moments that came full circle by the end when certain characters got their 'just desserts'. Personally, I give it a low 4 stars.
