The cat analogy at the end is fantastic, and a great mnemonic. Pat the cat from high point to low point, which is also widest to narrowest. Thank you!

A million thanks for explaining not only how to stay stitch, but why this preparation stage in garment making is so important. I quilt and make handbags and totes. I’m attempting my first simple summer dress. Pattern is cut out, markings are made and I’m petrified about the next step…stay stitching. Thanks to your video and masterful instruction, I’m ready to proceed. Heartfelt thanks!🌺

Nobody has ever explained this better. I had two teachers in NYC who said, "It doesn't matter which direction you stitch!" "Why would anyone ask such a question?" Incompetent and Nasty! Darryl cracked the code!

I’m new to sewing and I have watched a lot of videos and you are the best instructor…THANK You! You explained stay stitching at a beginner’s level, that I now feel confident to start my first project. You showed me HOW to do stay stitching and explained WHY to do it. If you wrote a book about sewing I certainly would buy it. I bought a stack of how to sew books and nobody has taught me better than you did!!!

This really does make sense to me. So often I see fabric move when I’m sewing it. I hope you will be able to do another video on armholes and darts. Darts would be easy sewing widest to narrowest but armholes look as though the bottom half should be sewn up and the upper part sewn down to meet the earlier stitching. I’ll try it and see what happens. Thank you so much for teaching this.
