I'm so fed up with the way the news uses these gentle, sanitized phrases to describe serious events. They say things like "neutralize the suspect" when they mean someone was shot and killed. Just be honest! Don't treat us like children who can't handle the truth. It's not about making things sound nicer; it's about telling the facts without trying to cushion the blow. The more the news uses this kind of soft language, the more it feels like they're trying to pull the wool over our eyes. We don't need euphemisms-we need to know what's really happening. Using vague, diluted terms only confuses people and hides the harsh reality of violence and tragedy. It's time to stop pretending that words like "neutralize" or "contain the threat" mean anything other than someone lost their life. Just call it what it is. Tell it straight. Quit trying to dumb things down with politically correct language that hides the truth. If something is bad, say it's bad. If someone got shot and killed, don't say they were "neutralized." That's not what happened, and it's insulting to act like it is. I'm tired of this constant sugar-coating in the news. It's not helpful, it's not informative, and it certainly doesn't honor the people whose lives are at the center of these stories. We deserve the truth, even if it's uncomfortable. So let's stop with the soft language and just say it like it is.

@@travisgrant5608 Most of the gun crime in America not committed by "gun-loving Republicans". 2% of America commits more than 60% of the gun crime in America, most of that number can't even vote, and if they did, they'd vote Democrat. Most of the violent crime in America, and gun crime in America is committed in Democrat run cities and counties. It's the inner city/hip-hop culture that's committing these crimes with mostly illegally obtained guns. You have soft on crime DAs and Mayors of these Democrat cities that let those people out with just a signature. You have pro-crime policies being put in place by Democrats, which drives up crimes in those cities. If you tell people they can shoplift up to $1000 worth of stuff, people are just going to shoplift instead of paying for the goods. I'd argue that it's the gun-loving Democrats that support this stuff, especially if they can push their anti-gun narrative on people...but only if it's a white guy doing the shooting.

This is still a tragedy. A 14 year old child still lost their life. That 14 year old was somebody's son, somebody's brother or somebody's best friend. Mount Horeb, WI is a small village of less than 8,000 people, in a rural area of Wisconsin. Our country has gone crazy. It appears from other reporting that nobody inside or outside the school was hurt by the alleged shooter, and while not saying that the alleged shooter was killed, one witness in a shop down the block from the school reported hearing at least five shots that she thought at first were fireworks until she saw children running from the school.

Sometimes it confuses me why schools think and feel that its better to lockdown students when theres an active shooter. Keeping students in classrooms are like sitting ducks. Every school should be required to have surveillance cameras throughout the whole school to be able to monitor where the shooter(s) are and can direct which students could flee.

Wisconsinite here. This is 20 minutes from my home. Have we had enough yet? Is it enough? How many kids, teachers, staff gotta pay the price for our inability to get better gun legislation? I’m pro guns believe me. Born and Raised right here. The facts are the facts. And the fact is this is insanity! No Child should have to have active shooter drills! Our Teachers should not have to have training on First-aid for major traumatic events! What are we doing? Can’t we get common sense practices in place and better enforcement of those policies for the safety of Our kids?

Schools are being left as targets on purpose. Most have no armed security. Just radios for each teacher. After 9/11 we got TSA and airport security, armed guards at the airports. Many school shootings and still schools are essentially fish in a barrel. Banks have guards. Schools? Nah, lets give them a radio. When will schools be sued for in adequate security for a known threat?
