My parents would take me to the Alexander Theatre in Birmingham every two weeks when the plays changed over. Leslie Sands and his wife Pauline starred in most of the productions. A great introduction to Theatre thank you all. Wonderful days!

This was an excellent play, always happy to hear the brooding voice of Jack May aka Nelson Gabriel of the Archers. Sadly the BBC have long stopped making plays as good as this.

An Identity Parade! I love the way things are put in other English-speaking countries. It makes sense, but it brings to mind some kind of circus activity.

We're all going to have to record the best drama before they're deleted. Even the short ones, like AC Clarke's "the next tenants" get suddenly disappeared. Any separate audio recorder will work if nothing else - (remember cassettes?) - "A Kind Worth Killing", in my opinion, was worthy of being "saved".

One of the best opening lines, you are ever likely to hear. "Are you Mr Barnard. Detective constable Barnard?" "How is he?" "He's got a bullet in his brain! How do you expect him to be?" Made me chuckle.

Excellent upload, never heard it before. Better than the TV series? Plus, there's a sign of the times in the recording: at 23:51 you can hear what I suspect is a vehicle without a suppressor interfering with the radio signal

BRIEF SYNOPSIS: "Three Days Of Frost" by R.D. Wingfield It sees the unkempt, jumbled Detective Inspector Frost put under pressure to solve multiple complex cases in a small amount of time while also attempting to avoid being axed by his superior officers. Amongst his many enemies within the Denton Police is the newly transferred Detective Chief Inspector Skinner who will stop at nothing to get Frost out of the job. R.D. Wingfield was an English author and radio dramatist, who is best remembered for creating the character of Detective Inspector Jack Frost who was later played by Sir David Jason in "A Touch Of Frost." 🎙️BBC Saturday Night Theatre was a long-running radio drama series on BBC Radio 4. The series showcased feature-length, middle-brow single plays on Saturday evenings for more than 50 years, having been launched in April 1943.🎙️

I wonder if it was normal for a hospital to be short-staffed on Christmas Day in 1977. Seems kinda crazy if it's realistic.
@elizabethbetz93274 жыл бұрын
It is realistic. Some time ago, I was hospitalized in NYC during both Christmas and New Year's day and the staff was minimal. It was kind of crazy.
@elizabethmoriarty16612 жыл бұрын
Yes, usually patients were summarily discharged because of staffing issues unless you were at deaths door because of staff shortage. The night nurses at my children’s ward in a burns unit in 1975 frequently stole treats from our lockers too (rolling them into central circle in the ward at night), they had a huge sense of entitlement and in those days you dared not ‘tell tales’ to anyone as no one would believe. A different world, thank heaven.

This was too rough for me. Got as far as the child pornography and had to bail out. Be warned if that matters to you.
@amugen4 жыл бұрын
It didn't play a major part in the story and was just adding background to one of the minor characters.

Do you realise that this is still in copyright, and I own that copyright? Do you have permission to host this?
@varianreeves72133 жыл бұрын
That's not how it's supposed to be so I won't listen now. Tell me - are the audio books, as opposed to this play, still in copyright too? Are there any versions that are not copyrighted (Audible for example)? I assume you are family - was he your father? If so, how lovely - his books brought so much pleasure. Please do get back to me to let me know if there's any I can listen to legally as due to weakening eye sight I struggle with the books now. Best wishes.

Hi Phil. Is there anything we can all do to put Mr. Wingfield’s brilliant works back on KZfaq? I would pay for a collection of his works if you can sell them in CD form. I’m devastated that I can’t listen to them every night. Are you his son?
@barbaraenglish39833 жыл бұрын
Please don’t take these away from us, Paul. It was not right for someone to post these when you held the copyright. Do you think that YOU would be willing to put them back. I go crazy laughing at Mr. Wingfield’s writing and Steven Thorn’s fabulous voice acting.
@barbaraenglish39833 жыл бұрын
Dear Phil. I wish you would put our DI Jack Frost back and Taffy Morgan and all the rest of the Denton Police Force back where we here what the gang is up to again. Sniff 😢. I really miss them a lot. I would laugh out loud at some of the antics and comments by Frost. Sure, there were very serious situations included in the series but I like the way Frost handled everything. I just could not stand Mullet. Ugh 🤦♂️.
