Hey you guys! As you can clearly see, we didn't say much, we were stunned by the powerful lyrics, stage performance and the debilitating guitar riff! The drums carried a punishing beat that one can confuse for an addict's worst fear, to relapse! We interpreted this song as someone who is trying to stay sober but is a continuous battle to stay that way! Maynard's performance was spectacular! We truly enjoyed this song! I believe that most of our reaction was visual rather than vocal. But, I believe that this song was meant to be felt and listened to rather than talked about (at least during the performance)! I just love the way they were really getting into the song, rocking out and not stopping the video every minute to comment on something trivial. Their insight at the end was perfect

@@jakehyrule7260 I agree that doing something just for views is kind of a cheap thing to do, but either way it is still opening people up to better music. If younger people see these girls enjoying the music, even if it's just for views, they will be more open to giving it a chance. Hopefully these people will start to really listen to the lyrics and can grow as people as a result.

From age 16 to 18 I had this cassette tape in the tape deck in my truck, never removed it for my first two years of college. Saw them nearly 30 times live so far. Best band ever.

Little advices for the next Tool song. 1/ Pick whichever you like they’re all great with 2 little caveats. First, make sure you don’t pick up an interlude by mistake and second certain songs are meant to be played together (or rather one after the other) so it would be wise to play them that way. For instance do not play Parabol or Parabola alone but play Parabol/Parabola ine after the other. 2/ Don’t watch the official videos for their singles on tour first listen. The videos are great but weird and sometimes a little disturbing and they have a tendency to distract you from the music and lyrics. 3/ Enjoy. Those Tool guys are good on every level.

I love the music videos, but you are so right. If you are very familiar with Tool it's pretty easy to see how the videos tell the same story as the songs. But I definitely remember seeing them for the first time and they are definitely a distraction. Learn the song first and then spend time with the music videos, lol.

@Eric Gaudet not true. There is an interview of Maynard by Joe Rogan on his podcast where he addresses this rumor. Everyone thinks he has stage fright because he now sits in the back by Danny but he said he does this purely because of the sound.

The singer is Maynard James Keenan and he has 2 more bands that sings in. A Perfect Circle and Puscifer. But as for Tool check out Right in Two or The Grudge.

Adam Jones, the guitarist, is actually a classically trained violinist. That's one aspect of Tool's unique sound and you won't find regular 'guitar solos" in Tool's repertoire. Instead most of their songs start with a 'simple' build up, followed by more intricate elements and result in a crescendo where all instruments and vocals meet as one.

Maynard is certainly a diva. I've always loved Tool because, to me, their performances feel very much like an old Opera or theatre performance, like you said. Like back when these arts were genuinely appreciated instead of commodified like it seems to be these days.

Tool is an amazing band, and you're sure to love them more with every song. It's rare to find a band that can make you headbang and think simultaneously. Even rarer is one that does it every single time. I recommend using the studio versions of their songs, as they are incredibly layered and complex (and headphones are a must! ) May I suggest / request "Right in Two" or "Forty Six & 2" as your next reactions, or maybe "Parabol/Parabola".

Thats Maynard James Keenan. He had to get a complete hip replacement surgery from stomping his foot so hard during 25 years of live performances singing in that contorted posture.

The song was written by Maynard in reference to a friend of the band that was a drug addict trying to rehab and how they felt what he was going through. Nice review young ladies and Spiral Out. 👍

I suggest checking out "Dies Irae" by Mago de Oz! specifically the live performance in the concert Diabulus in Opera in Mexico City, where they perform with a live orchestra and choir! there were also a few comments below suggesting "Dance Macabre" by Ghost and "Harlequin Forest" by Opeth (live at Royal Albert Hall), and I would like to second those :)

Tool was still a very new band back in this time. This was a cool song/performance but I definitely recommend checking out some stuff from their later albums. Their newest album is definitely something to behold. Not a bad track on it.
