plz sir explain this . in '' is he sick today " isn't IS a linking verb ? is it a linking verb or a main verb ?
@davida7862
@davida7862 4 жыл бұрын
In this sentence, "is" is both the main and linking verb. It is the main verb because there is no other verb in this sentence. It is also the linking verb because "is" links/connects "he" with "sick."

Can someone please explain how the word is in the following sentence,be a linking verb:"Laura is excited about the picnic." ?????? What are linking verbs
@davida7862
@davida7862 4 жыл бұрын
Linking verbs are verbs that help identify the state-of-being/ give information about the subject. In your case, the linking verb "is" links the subject "Laura" to "excited."

I Think you meant in the first example, "dont" is helping the main verb "travelling". You said the main verb is "like ".
@azq24796
@azq24796 10 жыл бұрын
In this example, "I don't like travelling to cold countries.", don't is the negative auxiliary (helping word) and the main verb is like. Although 'travelling' is a verb on it's own, in this sentence it is part of the object. You could say: I don't like + any noun or object. For example, I don't like lemons, I don't like playing sports or I don't like cooking. In this case, don't is helping the main verb like, so we can understand whether or not the person likes something.

Is it a difference between 'He has already seen that movie' and 'He already seen that movie' ?? Is the second sentence incorrect?
@sannaymuhammad
@sannaymuhammad 8 жыл бұрын
+Alex Suditu second one is incorrect. you can't put 'seen' in past indefinite (except in passive voice). there must be has/have with seen as its a 3rd form of verb (again in the exception of passive voice).
