@@squeakybunny2776 You mean to tell me you wouldn't do the same? So much built-up emotion instantly gets released in times like this. You and your team have been racing for nearly 24 hours. It looks like the opposition are about to win, but out of nowhere they run into an issue, and you suddenly realise you're actually going to win. I'd say this reaction was totally justified.

I remember watching it. As the Toyota was coming out of the first chicane on the straight I noticed it was only doing 200kph and I couldn't understand why. Only after that the commentators slowly realized it themselves. I think that was the only time I've ever watched a race with my mouth open. I wasn't a Toyota fan but that race really hurt and I have never seen any race this heart braking.

This is the most heartbreaking moment I have ever seen in motorsports, before this was Nigel Mansell pushing his Lotus before collapsing out of heat stroke, but this is at another level. You have plenty to choose from. 1997 Le Mans 24 hours, the factory Porsche GT1 burst into flames with 2 hours to go. In the 1990 race, a private owned team, the Brun Motorsport Porsche 962 lost oil, and destroyed its engine with 15 minutes to go. The 2002 race saw the Noel Del Nello Reynard 2KQ take the lead of the old LMP 675 class with 1 hour to go, after the leading WR 675 Peugeots rear suspension failed. Let's not forget the 2010 race when ALL THREE REMNADING HDI FAP DIESEL PEUGEOTS suffered engine failures throughout the morning.

Dumb response from Matthew. Racing is not easy. Companies that pull out for years then come back have issues coming back. For Honda in F1 they had the idiotic token system for engine improvement and not enough time to develop the platform. Racing in any case is a difficult sport. Claiming that a manufacturer sucks because they don't win consistently is idiotic and short sighted to say the least. Irony is the car was leading when a part on the turbo failed.

At 0:10, in the background, you can hear the French commentator yelling "C'est pas possible" ("It's not possible !"). It was probably the sentence said by most commentators watching at this time.

As many people have once said: "Toyotas usually don't break." Unfortunately, a tear has been brought to my eye about this Toyota breaking. Such a heartbreak knowing it was so close to finishing! 😭

What a cocky reaction from the porschedriver EDIT: I understand that their reactions are reasonable. But still, imagine that the porsche driver would be shocked about the engine failure of toyota aswell - it would show what great and fair sportsmanship is about.

I dont think they were happy about the failure of Toyota, they were happy because they *won*. Its an important race, and they probably couldnt believe, that they won in the 3 last minutes. But i agree, Toyota did deserve the win.

It is about building a car that covers the most distance in 24 hours. If your car breaks down the last minute and another car overtakes you then that's very bad luck, but you rightfully lost. It's a 23:57 car for a 24 hour race.

I find it strange and actually shameful that in this day and age it's become a bit of a sin to show human emotion when that's exactly why one would venture into such an endeavor as passionate as motorsport. To hear people say that you must delete your emotions in order to conform to the PC culture is tantamount to an excerpt from Orwell 1984. I know piss poor sportsmanship and the elation expressed by the Porsche drivers and some of the team is exactly what one should experience, its not poor sportsmanship.
