Every shot in this video was extremely questionable ethically speaking. And this won the Kuiu Film Festival? Interesting.

Have to agree with most of the comments here. Not that I haven't made my share of mistakes and stupid shots on game but guessing on a 80/90 yard shot on an elk, knowing that even a close in shot can go terribly wrong, is beyond crazy. Does the sport wrong. Hope this kid gets smart and limits himself to less than 40 or better yet leave the wheels home and take the stick and string.

I know a lot of folks will comfortably throw an arrow at extreme distances at deer and elk, but generally they have much more experience. Myself, I am comfortable shooting 50, and practice much farther out, but won't take a shot on an animal beyond that... This guy shooting as an inexperienced elk hunter at 80 yards is hard to swallow. Too many people don't have the patience to get closer in for a shot at a bull and sling an arrow from too far out (as he did). Then shooting at that buck from whatever range that was, man, this guy will look back at this video in a few more years and realize what an ass he was for taking those shots. Take ethical shots.... Not trying to be an ass. Great job on the film.

Hit one in the antler, hit one non-lethal, spined one. Jesus, maybe spend 60$ on a target.

NO SHI* ! ! What a immature Dope !~ ! This dude needs to learn when to take a shot and when not to. I think this title should read "Only 3 months since I took my hunters safety test and barely passed ! ! !" Learn some self-control and a little respect for these animals...... WOW

Not sure if the last one is spined tho, could be but it might just be that it is laying down and couldn't get up to run its death run😀 usually they don't die instantly from an arrow... probably just nerves or whatever goes on when they're usually running/standing before they go down

Shooting a hoping it hits isn't ethically responsible, animals get wounded simply because of ones urge to be successful. Be sure next time...just something to think about.

Not making good choices...perfect example of someone who is operating beyond their abilities. Also not thrilled with the lack of respect he's showing the animal he actually harvested...it's not about the beam/rack/points/inches...it's about the experience and the meat, if it's not then he needs to reconsider exactly what his motivations are for pursue these creatures.

I hunt for sport and meat! My meat comes from my big buck I work so hard to see usually that one shot! So when people tell me not to worry about inches or points I’m sorry I live all year fixated on that moment I see big bone in front of me but I do understand your point of view also

Great Video guys, maybe not the best choice shooting at ET. But I'm not going to be that guy that points the finger especially since I wasn't there.

The point of archery is to get close. It takes a mature responsible person to wait for that shot, which is the most ethical and respectful thing you can do for the animal. If you want to take long shots buy a rifle. That goes for all the morons taking shots over 60yds with a bow, and that’s being very generous.

You know it sucks to watch that buck come and go but I do believe over 50 he’s just got to keep walking honestly with myself I will not shoot at a buck over 30 just can’t take the chance , I know guys can shoot farther than me and I can practice at 50 but will not shoot it

Don't quite sling the arrow as well as the football but great job! Keep shooting and GO HAWKS! Nice buck and look forward to see more in the future. Don't worry about the missed shots. It happens to all hunters sooner or later, and anyone who gives you grief on the shots have been in your shoes before or they are lying.

Why does every hunter on video anymore try to take rifle shots with a bow? Its sadly the norm. All the fancy camo can't make you get close or shoot straight.

Good editing but poor ethics... Hearts my soul that some hunters act like they NEED to get that animal, no matter distance, angle, experience etc. Take it easy, you are not going hungry to bed if u don't shoot it. Just like hunting is becoming more and more popular which is good, there are also coming more and more ppl who are against it and these types of videos are feeding them. So please, take your time. It's not a competition.

Gross, 90 yards and you shot it in the antler. Doesn’t get much more unethical than that. I understand we all make mistakes but try harder brother. Get closer....
