Three European countries, Spain, Ireland and Norway, have all decided to recognize Palestinian statehood. The recognition will officially take effect on May 28. Ireland's Prime Minister Simon Harris called it a historic day, while Spain's leader said it was a step towards peace. In response, Israel is now recalling its ambassadors from those countries.

The discussion in this war is absurd. First. Israel acted selflessly to live in peace with the Palestinians in Gaza. It was more than a decade ago when Israel itself relocated thousands of individuals living in Gaza with lethal force from their homes to follow the agreement, which obligated the Palestinians in return to stop any kind of aggression towards Israel. The Palestinians had the chance to build a safe, functional, and prosperous livelihood. But the first thing the Palestinians did in return was to elect a government that enshrined the goal of destroying Israel in their constitution. The elected government followed through with its promise. Since its founding, thousands of rockets have flown into Israel. Dozens of civilians died in terrorist attacks. Millions of aid funds - intended for civilian purpose - were misused to build rockets, tunnels, and other nonsense. The crimes committed on October 7th like raping women, killing children, or kidnapping a baby, was Humus has been doing for years. Secondly. Israel behaved more humanely in this conflict than any other conceivable party in any imaginable conflict. It allowed Palestinians to work in Israel, receive medical care or even migrate into their country. During war, they warn civilians where their military is operating. They admit collateral damage and apologize for it. They saved Sinwar’s life giving him a lethal brain surgery. They treated the daughter of Haniyyas daughter for her complex disease in Israel. While Humus was building rockets and tunnels with all the foreign aid, Israel supplied their civilians with free water and electricity. The situation is clear. In no other conflict the responsibility for the suffering has been so one sided and clear - in no other conflict have the perpetrators been held accountable so weakly. People with voice and power who claim to reject war have the duty to unequivocally name the culprit of this war and do everything in their power to eliminate them. Everything else is responsibility for the resulting suffering and will extend it.

There are few real innocents among the Palestinians. To be fair, Gaza and the west bank were pretty much left alone for well over a decade. Any hardship there falls squarely on the head of their governments. Previously things were solved with the odd small scale retaliation. They crossed a line on Oct 7. And that was all on their own. First, 90% of the Palestinian people killed were not terrorist nor were they Hamas. Secondly, the Hamas attack, as atrocious as that was, appeared to be the final straw to 76 years of, not only Palestinian oppression, but all the murder and crimes against humanity oppression brought with it. As if being confined to a walled in prison was not enough. Several Palestinian generations were born into this oppression and have never experienced freedom, rights or equality. This history is not a secret and it is why people around the world are protesting and supporting Palestinians....but not DW news!

I haven't yet heard the argument that the Israeli government being a democracy with a balance of powers, first world economics, powerful friends with shared values, is precisely why it is being called on to a higher standard than say a warlord in the Congo or Iran. And the fact that it lives in a dangerous neighborhood, while unfortunate, is not justification to operate for so long outside of those expectations.

Yes, they did play the victim for like 20 years, during which time they slowly encroached on Palestinian lands on the West Bank and closed off Gaza like an open-air prison. Apparently, that is not enough for them. So Hamas "causing a scene" was what they had wanted all these years, and they literally pushed for Hamas to cause a scene. They might even have purposefully facilitated the Hamas attack (by ignoring relevant intelligence and pulling off border guards). After that, they had been using the Oct 7 event to cover for all the atrocities they committed. From the perspective of the Palestinians, who have suffered systematic oppression by the Israeli apartheid regime for 70 years, their suffering hardly gets any mainstream reports and will never receive substantial international support. So if they truly want freedom, they cannot rely on Israel. They cannot rely on the Palestinian authority in the West Bank, who are basically controlled by Israel. They cannot rely on the international society, which largely ignored their plight. What choice do they have other than supporting Hamas? At least this time it worked.

If statehood comes through as he said, there would be chaos in Middle East. Palestine will be another mini-Iran that terrorised its neighbours and this time, it has the right to do so. 😂... Singapore's statehood recognition came through direct negotiation with its neighbour Malaysia. No other countries recognised its statehood prior to negotiations. Only through direct negotiation between 2 non-radicalised parties can lead to everlasting peace.😊
