Yes, these cats were rescued by Fish and Wildlife. We have no idea what happened to the mother. Anybody commenting on the mother is just guessing. There has never been any report of a Mountain lion in this area that was killed or hit by a car. Since this video was filmed there was an update to the story. The three cats were cared for here in the local area of Preston Idaho. About two weeks ago they were placed in a wildlife preserve in North Carolina. The sad part of the story is that one of the Cubs had a bad reaction to the sedative and died. The other two are now in North Carolina alive and well. This has been a life changing experience for me. Not only the experience of the Cubs but meeting people who have seen the video and the conversations are so cool. Thanks to everyone who has commented and watched the video. God Bless

Crusader1815 people like are you are exactly why wildlife gets shot. These babies look fine (one looks thinner because there is usually a runt and a dominant sibling) and they don't always stay with the mother. Some get curious and die while others don't... It's sad, but that is how this have always been. If you start feeding them then they'll keep coming back. Someone will report it and then they'll be shot. Educate yourself properly and respect them from afar (unless they are actually injured and are in need of wildlife rehabilitation - then contact *the professionals*).

The mountain lions are like “let’s go to the zoo, see there is Bob recording us, to the left you have Devorah cooking some steak, then you have little Jimmy playing with his legos”. “Momma told us to run away if they ever leave their cage”.

They were defiantly in need of a meal. Poor things. Im glad they were rescued. I live in NC and wonder if they were sent to Grandfather mountain. That would be great.

I think they were too young to be afraid of much. I had actually walked outside to see where they went at one point, walked around a corner and almost ran right into them. They just stood there so I walked backwards back into my home. They were very young and still in the exploration phase of being a cub or kitten.
@elcajondavid18 жыл бұрын
You were lucky. Usually the mother is nearby. Had a friend that worked trucking logs out of the forest nearby, and he spotted what looked like an orphan cub. Decided to stop and pickup the poor thing, and by the time he made it back to the truck with the cub, the mother showed up, and he said she was ticked beyond belief and wanted her cub back. I asked him why he did not toss the cub out of the truck, and he said he was afraid of opening even a window, because she was most definitely not afraid of the semi. They kept the cat for a little while until fish and game found out about it, and took the cat from them. Guess it eventually made it's way to the San Diego Zoo.

yeah, they were not being ''playful exploring kittens'. they were near death starving. chances are they have not eaten in weeks. some hunter probably shot and killed, hunted the mother, and left her cubs behind to die. when cub animals are close to dying, they are most likely not going to be 'playing and exploring'. they are going to be behaving very irrational, like 'coming out into sight where they will be killed by any passing predator'.

john tohme - I bet they wouldn't. They do look awfully thin though. I would go out and feed them. Honestly, cougars are so much like housecats in behavior when they grow up around people, the only thing preventing their easy domestication is their size.

Depends on how far their training went. If they haven't been hunt trained, they couldn't kill a mouse except by accident.

ProseColored Glasses : By animal law it’s our territory because we can defend our claim... But it is also true that it is their home habitat and they cannot pack and move like humans. It is precisely because of that advantage that we owe it to our planet to not wreck what wilderness remains, we are the most adaptable and we should not abuse that advantage.

Laylla's Locker, it's not about animals adapting to civilization. When you see a huge object/thing, known or unknown, going your direction at high speed, making loud noises, I think it should be on some primitive instinctive level to feel the need to move away from its path.

Nice. In 1999 opened my front door to a huge Cougar sat on my porch in front of me when I lived near Seattle. I had never seen one before so I asked my wife to grab the camera as we stood opposite looking at each other (I was thinking 'Your so cute', it was probably thinking 'Dinner'. When she returned and seen it, she freak out and slammed the door shut scaring it away.

These mountain lions are only cubs, and to me they look at least 3 months old. They are too young to be away from their mother. But, I appreciate what these kind people did for these cubs, getting them to somewhere where they can get better, play and grow. It is sad that one died, but at least the others survived. And living in a sanctuary will be a great experience for them. Please leave a like if you agree.
