My bike ride around North East England. I cycled 74 miles from Durham, to the coast and up to Sunderland, to South Shields, through the Pedestrian/Cycle tunnel under the River Tyne, to Newcastle, Blaydon, Consett, Lanchester and back to Durham.
I crossed 2 of the 3 big rivers (twice), the River Wear and the River Tyne. The third big river on the map, the River Tees, is much further south. So I actually did the 'Two Rivers' bike ride, but used the Three Rivers Cycle Route map!
I set off at 12.30pm, stopping quite a few times to sight-see, chat to people, plus eat and drink. I also stopped to mend a puncture and arrived home at 9.30pm. The hardest bit was cycling from Blaydon (on the River Tyne) up to Consett. It's steady up hill for about 20 miles, so I found it tough to keep up a decent pace. The easiest bit was the last leg, coming home from Consett to Durham, mostly down hill!
Thanks for watching and have fun!
