Three things you should know about Air Assist: （Laser air assist beginner should look carefully）
1. When laser cutting, air assist should be turned on to speed up the cutting and make the surface cleaner.
2. When laser engraving, it is best to turn off the air assist, which will make the surface foggy.
3. When a job includes both cutting and engraving , how to handle the separate opening and closing of air assist? In Lightburn software, select all--ungroup--separate cutting and engraving layers--do cutting and engraving separately.

I have a Sculpfun S9 with air assist add-on. Is it safe to turn off the compressor, when you have the air assist nozzle mounted? I thought that the laser lens will get dirty if there is no air blowing?

Air assist should be turn on when cutting wood. Air assist should be turned on low when engraving surfaces to keep the lens clean. So should air assist be cut on? Yes. Air assist should be on low when cutting acrylic.

Ye I just tried cutting the exact test piece from the s10 kit with the same settings, does not cut. So guess money down the drain

Your tips were very valid, but I have a question: in the third item, about engraving and cutting in the same file, you say to turn off the air pump when recording and turn it on when cutting, but in the LightBurn program there is a turn on function and turn off the air assistant on each layer. In that case it doesn't work? P.S. Do you have the Clock file to share? Thanks

Because the motherboard has not yet added this function, the air assist switch is by hand, it is not controlled by software buttons, just displays or not display images for your watch. The clock file is ok, you can contact neil@sculpfun3d.com

@@SCULPFUNReal why did you do it so unpractical? It makes no sense when you need to cut and engrave a large amount of items at the same program. Is there any fix it this?

It will require a relay controlled power plug (it could be added over the actual solution) switching on/off the full air assist pump. Extra point for hacking the pump air flow potentiometer and adjust the air flow at your needs… not so difficult at all but requires some tinkering and tooling for sure…

I have the 5W laser in my sculpfun and I am very happy without the air assist. I never use 100 percent power to cut. With patience everything goes nicer. What about the 10w laser? Do I need the air assist for that or is it just recommended?

I have a 10W from creality and its the same as you said, less power, more passes you can achieve just the same. I do have a fan blowing over my work desk though to help with ventilation.

When engraving wood, it has a concave and convex feel similar to CNC, it feels concave and convex, but it can not be as precise as CNC engraving

@@janee7995 You can engrave transparent using black sheet under the acrilic. You need to focus the laser on it and then add the acrilic. That way the heat is transfered and the back sheet engraves the acrilic. Cutting isn’t possible due diode laser technology (but darker acrilic is possible) so you need to use CO2 machine or cnc.

You should have Air Assist trigger switch controlled by LightBurn from the software!

Jak to jest z tą mocą lasera. Na wszystkich grupach piszą żeby laserem diodowym nie ciąć mocą 100% a producent w swoich filmach jednak pokazuje że można. Jakie jest oficjalne zdanie producenta w tym temacie.

When cutting thick materials, in order to improve efficiency, it is recommended to use full power; for thin materials, it is best to use 80% of the power; Working at full power will indeed have a slight impact on the life of the laser, and users can choose the appropriate power according to the usage.

Guys beware of the SCAMMER seller 'Teach-Land Store' from Aliexpress. He is scammer and will sell u second hand products. Then if u want to return it, he will threaten u so u will write low value on the shipping so he wont pay tax. So he wants u to frauw with tax. Then if u says i wont do this, he blocks u and getting very arrogant.
