@@user-op8fg3ny3j Never! A “high tech” tank with lots of injected CO2 and artificial fertilizer is subjectively prettier to some, but can be expensive and high maintenance. Lol, you took the words right out of my mouth, when this video popped up I thought the KZfaq algorithm was playing a joke on me, but our Mr Ragusa really is a man for all seasons. Cooking and aquariums occupy a sizable percentage of my time but I’m also quite fond of music and gardening, and he’s got these covered too! Is an Adam Ragusea video about specimen preparation and taxidermy too much to hope for?

I had a vaguely similar setup in a 100 gallon tank vivarium, with a 10" false bottom made.from plastic crate qnd carbon fiber window screen material, upon which I placed the substrate for the plants allowing their roots to grow down and into the water. The outflow of my canister filter made terrestrial river which flowed into a small pond which had a sand covered pipe to allow water to seep from the pond to the false bottom chamber, and back to the outflow. Happiest terrarium I ever built.

That's a really cool idea to do a floating platform. I just did a very similar build recreating an overhanging riverbank with spray foam. The problem I run into is that the water has to be a specific depth or else the overhang starts to float. This idea just embraces the floating

Ok I didn’t watch this video (yet) I just wanted to talk to you directly. I’ve seen your videos all over TikTok but realized it was reposted fan pages and not actually you. I tried to find somewhere to write this where you might actually see it. Thank you for making content. I love your videos; how clear and well spoken you are, and your enunciation. It sounds like a funny compliment but it makes your videos addictively engaging to me. You’re eloquent and articulate and explain things in plain English concisely without sounding condescending, even though you sound like a brilliant person probably smarter than most of the viewers. I’m too shy to make my own content but you inspire me to want to try, especially since you have many of my same interests (for example I’ve always wanted to build a vivarium exactly like this and didn’t even know the video was here. I was looking for the rest of a one pan meatloaf TikTok. The only problem is, i used to speak nearly identically to your oration style, but had no friends in primary grade school. Nobody wanted to talk to the walking textbook. So as a5-6 year old I tried to fit in by actively speaking with a lazy slang speech and mumbling my words so I didn’t stand out as much. And over 30+ years my mouth tongue etc got lazily trained to speak how I do now. But you inspire me to be better. Thank you.

I've had dojo loaches for a few years now, and they are by far the most entertaining fish out of any I've kept. They swim all over despite being bottom feeders, they're 99% peaceful (one decided to murder one of my snails after 2 years) and super compatible with other species, they can fart... I think it's awesome you're getting into and sharing the joy of fishkeeping. I definitely understand the temptation to make more tanks, but I think a good way of resisting is to keep the tanks themselves interactive or keep fish you really enjoy the personalities/behavior of. Community tanks are great, getting to see how different species interact with each other and coexist. Also as a tip if you want higher dissolved oxygen, which effectively has no downside, just install a small air pump with an airstone in your canister filter. You wont disrupt your flowrate/direction, if you hide the pump somewhere it shouldnt add any noticeable noise, and its super cheap/easy to do

Aw this is absolutely gorgeous!! Your crabbies might enjoy some bloodworms, shrimp, fresh veggies, and fruits since they're scavengers and would usually eat a very varied diet in the wild. Also, a cuttlebone might be a good addition since they need a LOT more calcium than you'd think. If you want a crab ladder, plastic embroidery mesh is my go to option. Best of luck with your little guys!!!

Beautiful habitat, Adam, and it's a joy to see you immersed in building a little world to escape to. Please don't be dismissive of the invasive potential of any exotic species, though. Just because they are small and cute doesn't mean that they can't be a pest in the wrong place. Some of the worst invasives in the world were prized as ornamental treasures until they escaped from captivity and drove out natives. Think snakeheads or Kudzu, and beware.
