I got them and they're truly something else for gaming and movies. Imaging is really, reallt excellent. I don't even hate them for music when im listening to basshead stuff. Only other headphones that do "truth hurts" by lizzo properly is the crushers. Apart from the cheap cable and basic tips, these are a super super fun set. Chu 2 for music is the king now, but the konoka is on another level for movies and games. Trn just announced the Mars, a $50 version with the same setup. No dip switches so the motor and BA will always be on.

Yeah I'm not sure about the TRN version, the price seems a bit high and I think the only way to do these would be to at least have a switch for the haptics in case they become too much or for when you're not in the mood to have your ears tickled. Lol.

@@hi-friaudiomanI'll be grabbing them with the aliexpress wide sale starting tomorrow (basically everything in china is on sale from the 21st thru the 27th) because worst case, I get a good boom mic cable and a set of T tips. TRN makes fantastic cables - the "redchain" from the rosefinch is their modular 4 wire weave, comes with 2.5, 3.5, and 4.4 tips for $12. Have it on my konokas right now, actually. I have my doubts it'll be that much better than the konoka, but I also am into the semi-custom shell shape TRN does, and it's not like I plan on ever really using the konoka in a situation other than gaming, where the motor is going to be on. TRN is like KZ with ethics, so I like supporting them, lol.

I just received my unit today, I do understand they are marketing it specifically for gamers/movie, but it's decent, even good for bass head like me. If you tap the shell, the driver does vibrate 😂 I saw their demo and noticed the switches were actually turning off driver, blew my mind off, and it really does that. It does need some amp and good cable to drive it properly. And yeah foam tips are def recommended, that helps to take some edge off of 1-2k.
@shreyanshvalentino
@shreyanshvalentino 10 ай бұрын
also I tried to tape it to my ear, to hear the piezo/bc/vibration driver, however I think it sounds better with some air between ear and shell? Also how wish they had tuned the DD a bit nicely or keep it purely for low frequencies, at this point my BA is anyway turned off since past few hours

At one point, I hope you can make a QnA video! Things like, "How does it feel to open up an iem and find a decent driver?" / "Have you ever had any experience of disappointment on iem's tuning after finding out they were actually using a great driver?" / What procedure of dismentling iem helped you the most to create your own iem? / "What kind of earphone device do people from stage music industry prefer? (If I remember correct, you were working in this industry?) / etc!!

What causes channel imbalance? Always interesting to see your videos. Thanks. PS: So funny you always say I'll be back but you can literally edit that out without us knowing.
@hi-friaudioman
@hi-friaudioman 10 ай бұрын
Channel imbalance can be caused from several different things but there are two main causes; difference in manufacturing i.e misaligned coil, misaligned surround ring, damage to the conductor aka wire, debris or lack of glue in certain areas, too much glue in certain areas. Also overloading can cause imbalance as the voice coil will heat up causing the enamel coating to melt and the conductors to touch, weakening the electro-magnetic field. Physical damage to balanced armatures will also cause imbalance as there is a very small connecting rod that conveys energy from the motor structure to the diaphragm, causing the balanced armature to become unbalanced or lose energy conveyance.

IDK, I'm still really annoyed they claimed it had $1k sound quality thinking it would help sales. No other company uses tactics like comparing the cost of sound quality. Any good company should just let their products speak for themselves and leave the marketing at the technical features and tuning.

Hey Hi-Fri! Those are some dope tips. Ill try them out when my'n arrive. I want to ask your opinion on upgrade wires. like Nicehck for example. Have you ever graphed iems with different wires?
@hi-friaudioman
@hi-friaudioman 10 ай бұрын
I haven't, but I've seen someone who has. Apparently the cable has little effect over sound, but at least some of the time it does have an effect. The problem is that your signal chain is only as good as the weakest part, so if the iem's use cheap wire conductors I doubt an upgrade cable will help, but you never know. A good rule of thumb in my opinion when tweaking sound is this: First change your eartips, source, etc, these will make the biggest impact. And second change the cable, at the least it should have an effect on the sonics of the iem and with some cables there may be a slight difference in tuning because of changes in impedance, however it will be relatively minor.

@@hi-friaudioman Wow that's super informative! Thank you. I did want to say that I tested the Kiwiears Dolce before burn-in. Stock everything. The Treble was hurting me after listening to a few songs. I changed to a 7N OCC Silver cable, and the treble was just less. It wasn't hurting me. I have put in 87 hours of burn-in and will test again in the future. I listen to hardcore and happycore the most. Thank you again. Keep up the great work.

3x3mm foam, you can get it in various density. Also you can get 3.7mm mesh if you want to stack mesh or add to the mesh. I would probably try foam first though. Try two pieces of 3x3mm med or high density foam and that should do the trick.

My CCA CRAs left bud output volume sounds less every time I plug it in. To fix it I have to crank volume to 100 for a second and then it is balanced even if volume reduced. Sometimes the left side is completely silent and using the above fix or shaking the left iem when its in my ear fixes it. The glue have melted and have ruined the dampners so currently im using them without any. The glue is also present on the connectors however ive cleaned it now. The cable is fine ive tried it with different cables. Can you guide me if theres anything I can do to permanently fix it?

Thanks Hi-Fri, I've been waiting to hear about these, such exciting innovations and change ups in audio for the last year or two. Chi-Fi getting exponentially better for lower prices, Planar IEMs, Fiio doing amazing things with flathead earbuds, TWS advancements, specifically Bose killing it for ANC, Skullcandy Crushers, KZ upsetting people and flushing their name down the toilet and the most exciting thing?.. XMEMS and Creative around the corner.

If it was an old skullcandy model they weren't too good, more like prototypes with one note vibration, I've got old Koss gaming headphones with vibration that are even worse, like imagine strapping some ladies bedroom toys to the earcups and turning them on and off every time there's an explosion or bass note. The newest skullcandy models like the Evo are a different league, incredible with specific bass genres and the latest Transformers movie sounded like they were made for it.
