You're missing out on some cool video though. He cuts in clips of bears doing stuff that's kind of related to the story, but not actual forage of course. For example, there's one video where he talks about a guy who violently kicks a bear and it goes rolling down a steep hill. The footage is of a happy bear just laying back onto some soft grass 😂

I just wanted to say, as a blind viewer, I am very very very very much appreciate this channel! It is superb! I have been looking for more channels that describe wildlife and attack. Yours is the most descriptive channel I have found. I wish I could feel the bear claws that you have. That’s amazing. I would be so scared to encounter a bear of any kind. I also wanted to say that your voice is very unique and just plain excellent! You should think about getting in contact with your state library for the blind and reading books if they need you to do so. Another thing you can do is read for your state radio reading service for the blind. The library pays, the radio thing is more volunteer. But you have such a wonderful voice, you should definitely use it. I hope your channel continues to grow and I hope that you continue to bring these stories to us. I would like to feel more wildlife taxidermy stuff. Do you know where I could possibly do that?

Not enough caution was taken in all three attacks. In the first attack both men should have holstered weapons and knowledge of how to use them. In the second attack they should have been armed with more than a frying pan in bear country and extreme caution should be taken cooking outdoors or even in a recreational vehicle where bears are present. The young man in the last attack should have had his bear spray holstered and not in his backpack. He was very lucky. I myself couldn’t trust bear spray. I would want a high powered revolver and not a semi automatic holstered on my hip. Evidently a bear can attack so fast sometimes a person doesn’t have time to take the gun from the holster.

Deploying bear spray on an attacking bear is always my first choice since it statistically results in more favorable outcomes more of the time, but I don't have a gun for backup. If a bear was attacking one of my kids.. I'm never in bear country without my knife on my hip and I wouldn't hesitate to get in there with immediate throat stabs, even if I miss everything important and it just turns its rage on me. I still feel like a 6 inch blade is deadlier than anything any bear has, if used correctly. That should be enough to get through any part of the bears neck/throat to something vital with one decent strike landed. Easier said than done, but I'd fight a bear with my hands to get its attention away from my kids

It's totally stupid to go on a hunt and not be prepared, armed appropriately and not be well practiced in your protection and firearms use. Hunters going into bear country should have to be trained and licensed against wild animal attack (bear, cougar. Wolf), it might just save someone's life and overt the suffering of the people they leave behind. At the very least it would remove any ignorance these hunter have about what the could face out on a hunt. This should be a national requirement, not state based.

Bear have great hearing... Bears, like most mammals, have a hearing range that extends beyond that of humans. While the exact frequency range may vary somewhat depending on the species of bear, research suggests that bears can hear frequencies ranging from 10 Hz to 40 kHz. Directed sounds at louder decibels than a human or bear could possibly generate naturally, might be a good defensive weapon! Not sure about the bear spray backpack, but a good backpack sounds like a good idea. What if the backpack was like an airbag but it expanded to cover your back side as you fall to the ground? 🤔 Also maybe alerts from a listening device designed to warn if it hears a nearby bear! We could also make devices that I would call "noice canceled humans"... Using generated sound to cancel another sound, in this case the sound of the human(s) moving though the forest. Like noice canceling headphones. A sound cloak? 😀 Edited from original post with more ideas

5:29 …He pulled the trigger, but the Glock did not fire?????? I know you go through the various safety features of the Glock, but if it was loaded with a round in the chamber and if he really did pull the trigger his finger would have depressed the trigger blade safety and the pistol should have fired. There is NOTHING complicated about shooting a Glock. Did the investigators test fire the the Glock after? Was it loaded? Was the ammunition faulty? If the round was not faulty and if there was a round in the chamber I’m going to have to say, I find it very difficult to believe he pulled the trigger.

It sounds to me as though Upton was unfortunately a victim of the sow continuing to teach the cub how to hunt. Just like every human being I'm sure every individual creature in nature is different and this particular mama bear must have had more of a killer instinct than the average. This on top of the fact that maybe the sow already had in mind the next animal they found they would attack. I really do think this was a rare and abnormal scenario and unfortunately Mark was there at the time The bears were going to go hunting.

Like seatbelts for being in the wild. Plus a .44 or higher caliber weapon. With phosphorus tips. I was thinking grenades too, but then I’m killing both of us; didn’t realize the closing speed. How much is closing speed, and how much is due to mental slowdown due to the shock and fear of a rapidly approaching bear? A fully automatic AK47 would be nice, but for protection purposes only, not hunting.

It's extremely easy,to "armchair quarterback " situations such as the first story. And I'm in no way shape nor form, saying that I could have done better. But one thing I DO know,is that if I carry a sidearm,or ANY firearm,I absolutely know how to operate it,and fire it. Glocks are one of,if not THE easiest handguns to use. And to hear that in this situation it was thrown "uselessly to the ground " makes me take pause. And then the survivor jumped on a horse and rode away as his companion was being kiled?! Something just doesn't add up to me. All other theories aside,if you're carrying a weapon, and don't know how to use it,you are a fool and a liability. And if you ride off and leave your supposed friend to be eaten alive? Then you don't have a single hair on your sack.

The dude was overcome with panic, made dumb decisions. Nothing needs to add up in this type of situation if the dude isn’t thinking straight

How can one be skilled enough to successfully elk hunt but not get a Glock to fire? Makes no sense to me, like you said, easiest pistol to use.

This is the 100+ brown bear fatality I've read about in my 30+ years of obsession with brown bear attacks encounters and deaths and I tell you it's the most sketchy story. I'm not denying the man's story/account of the tragedy.im just saying it's the only 1 out of hundreds that gives me a knot in my stomach I cannot untie! It's just strange. I feel if cory would have had more shooting experience before going hunting I feel it's likely the father of 5 youngins would possibly be here today. It's just a frustrating tragedy. Period.

I certainly hope I would stay and help beat that Bear senseless!!! The girls brother is a Hero so is she but had no weapon to deter that Black Bear . I think the hungry bear was in predatory mode because of the way it attacked her fiancee. The Bear got hurt or it probably feasted , that's why it went for the exposed area his neck. Black Bear are known for eating humans , correct.

So "Billy Bob Bad Ass" goes out picking on some poor, unarmed elk and the predator becomes the prey? I can understand if ya lived in the mountains in the 1930s and had a gaggle of hungry kids to feed. But to go out and stalk these beautiful magestic animals just so you can blow it's brains out & brag about it is REPREHENSIBLE! Does it make ya feel like a man to blow Bambi's head off? Go wrestle a bear and live to tell about it & I'll be impressed or go to a biker bar & slug the first Hell's Angel ya see. At least they can defend themselves and they WANT a fight!

Why not make a bear spray canister with elastic near both ends of the cylinder. Then strap onto left forearm, if youre right handed. Most of these attack victims in your videos carry bear spray attached to their backpacks, and dont have time to react.

Most Bear attacks on this channel piss me off because they go out of their way to kill or maim people who aren't out to kill or harm them regardless of what their age is and that's why I stay clear of Bear country.

For my kids and my grandkids, I would come anything alive. I would make the REVENANT seem mild. I have often been called mama bear because I am so fierce and intense when it comes to my kids and hell yeah I think a cast-iron frying pan would be a good thing to come at a bear with because you often hear that hitting them on the nose tends to catch their attention or. It might catch their attention faster than a gun or bear spray honestly. Because once they’re in that attack mode either one of those things don’t seem to do much good until they’ve been shot so many times they bled out and they can run through bear spray.

Please forgive my various typos. My eyes are shot and was in a hurry. Meant to say that I root for the humans when they are just jogging in nature or hanging out somewhere with no thought of murdering other animals. When the human animals have guns and are out for “sport”, I’m with the bruins. Must go now. Love your vids, especially when the bruins harvest a human animal that is out for some killing from great distances.
