I think both the balcony door and the splodge & scribble are excellent! Two different styles but equally appealing. I can sympathize with your pain as I have lower back pain that goes down my leg to ankle. Walking even short distances is challenging. ☹️ Hope you find permanent relief soon! 🤗

Thank you! Yes, pain is very hard work to live with - I'm sorry you're experienced that. I need a new hip, but we're trying to delay it with cortisone injections, but my last appointment for one was cancelled and I'm very overdue now.

Wow! How interesting to see the restoration room & pigments. Art is much more scientific than I ever imagined, & has so many facets! All interesting in their own right, I feel the more I learn the more I need to learn, endlessly interacting with so many different subjects! Making this hobby really addictive! Hope your pain eases. Thanks for another interesting tour!

You have every right to criticise your own words, however you like, but I will say my most favourite piece was from your balcony looking at the other balcony doorway from your apartment. Just the amount of colour and detail were amazing. I wish I had patience for something like thatand the skill. I’m a chronic pain sufferer and I understand the frustration of not being able to go to places and being held back but at least you did do something for self-care and made the most of it. I hope you feel better soon and in less pain.

You may not be a fan of paintign buildings but it turned out really beautiful. I especially like how the water stain from the dried edge of watercolor makes the lintel even more realistic. The second watercolor painting is also quite fun. Keep up the great work!

Looks like & you're having a great time. What a beautiful place 😊 All lovely paintings & all so different. I find it's so hard to paint buildings without getting dragged into the detail. I could never be as loose as the splodge & scribble and get the fab result you have here. Hope you & your daughter enjoy the rest of your holiday ❤

Have a wonderful time won’t you. You might not have been happy with your window painting, but I think it’s lovely!! Love the splodge & scribble style painting as well! I have found that after working on a painting for a while, I often dislike them and am really critical. I think it’s because my face is so close to the painting for quite a while while I’m working on it and I see every mistake magnified. If I set the painting aside for a day (I put it on a little holder on the mantle), when I look at it from a distance, they aren’t so bad 😂. Hope you are feeling better soon, looks like you had a lovely restful day 😊

Hi Helen! Thanks for a marvelous video! I enjoyed each bit of it. I can say with a large amount of surety that I will never get to Spain or Europe or UK etc. So I really appreciated this video. I loved the scenery and watching you paint. Your paintings were both gorgeous! Thanks for sharing this and I hope your hip(s) get better. I took have some hip issues and it's not fun! I'm starting to think that there are a few advantages to having aphantasia. (Not being able to see pictures in your mind.) I don't have any have any previsualization of an image before I start. My drawings just evolve as I work on them, so they're always a surprise and therefore I can't really be disappointed that they don't match an image in my head or turn out how I wanted them. 🤷‍♀The drawback is that I need to physically see something to be able to draw it and of course it's probably part of what's caused my face blindness, or at least exacerbated it. Another plus is that I don't get the nagging inner criticizing voice that most others seem to have. My brain thinks in words so has no processing space for extra things like that. I read somewhere recently that how accurate to life a piece of art is, is a purely artistic choice. No one else knows what your vision for your image is so no one else can see mistakes that you think you've made. I liked all your paintings today. To me they were all examples of different styles you were trying out and are all a part of your growth as an artist. So even if you make a painting that doesn't appeal to you or isn't what you expected, it doesn't make it any less important as a piece of art than the ones you like. “Art is in the eye of the beholder, and everyone will have their own interpretation.” ― E.A. Bucchianeri, Brushstrokes of a Gadfly,

I definitely don't have a pre-visualisation of my paintings either - my pictures always evolve (and why they usually end up being mixed media), BUT, I feel strongly whether I like what I'm seeing or not, and if it's my own work, I feel frustrated when I dislike it.

@@helencryer I'm still experimenting with the 2.4mm calligraphy pen and water. I haven't figured out what exactly I'm trying to accomplish other than I can't help but be loose with my sketches. The pen and water are too unpredictable to be tightly drawn sketches and I really do want to loosen up. I borrowed a small table easel from my mum in law so now I get ink runs through everything too. I don't fell frustrated with it, as such, but I do have a few eek moments when it feels like everything is doing it's own thing 😂 I like doing your splodge and scribble for the same reason although I can still get too tight adding the penwork and details after the wash. I enjoy your channel and exchanging ideas here. Hopefully my waffle adds to your channel engagement so you get something out of it too 😉

Beautiful paintings! BTW I have an update on my Derwent mechanical pencil, the leads keep on breaking. Last year my Derwent pencil stopped working so then I stopped using it. Recently I fixed it, it worked for a few weeks, but now my leads have started to break and fall out of the pencil. It recently happened with two leads I put in the pencil. The leads broke and the pieces fell out of the pencil. My only conclusion is the pencil is at fault. I will use my Derwent leads in a non-Derwent pencil and see what happens.
