In 1992 I bought a 1983 225dx for $700 CAN on a farm auction. It was a great machine. In the time i owned it I put on 3 new tires, reupholstered the seat , new muffler and a u-joint for the shaft drive. It got a lots of abuse from our four kids. I finally sold it in 2015 for $800. I still started with a dead battery after sitting all winter in the shed after 2 pulls. Just bought a new 2020 450 Yamaha quad, if that also lasts that long i'll be an old man.

For the more experienced Riders I recommend upgrading to a tri Z 250.

Rode all over the dunes it was great!!! It spent many years in the dunes and then the snow in mountains of California until I brought lt to Georgia Still going strong ....does more work hauling trailers now but every now and then she gets put thru her paces!!!

Love this trike. Got one in 1984 as a kid. Drove it everywhere & beat the living hell out of it until it was stolen out of my backyard. Father bought me a 350 Warrior as a replacement that was a huge upgrade in power & suspension. & way more fun. These took an amazing beating though & were good starter trike. Agreed most were yellow but I did see a few black ones & blue models in our area.

I had three of these years ago awsome atv for the times that and the 200e had two of those too miss all of them lol great video hope you keep it!

I luv the 225dx, fun, easy to ride, and has some utility too! I also can ride them really good, I beat a 1985 Honda 250R in a race!! Yeah I turned off his gas tank when he wasn't looking, it still started and ran a bit until I won the race lol

Plastic levers? I have owned about 10 yamaha three wheelers. From YTM125 YTM175, YTM200, DR225 and DX225. None ever had plastic levers.

I own a 83 and it's definitely not for a 6 to 12 year old kid! I'm 45 and have a blast on it, mine is kick ass in the dunes. I think you need to ride it then talk about it!

I got this trike now and it's 2021 still runs great and is the same age as me 35 years old it's not the fastest but it a classic and alot of fun to ride takes on trails with any others but if fast and stupid is your kinda fun get the YTM 250 Z

Shaft! Hilarious, one bad ass little trike. Owned a yellow one as a teen, totally rode the thing everywhere, paved roads, highways, beaches, always running away from the cops. More fun than anything for a punk 14 year old kid in the 1980s

Nice man, I got me a black one just like it last year. Also got a yellow one with it. I just started working on it again last night. I'm using the yellow one for my parts bike and it's nice to have another one to look at to know what goes where👍.Im down to I think I just need a carb rebuild kit, might just get an aftermarket carb off ebay.
