It’s fair to say that Bonnie was a little speechless… and totally spellbound when she stepped inside Reno Schooler Chloe Bookman’s home.
From the street Chloe’s house, in the Sydney suburb of Coogee, looks like many other homes from its era but one glimpse inside reveals a secluded seaside retreat with no detail spared. It’s candy for the eyes!
Chloe credits her inspiration to Wes Anderson film sets, English country gardens, art deco and the Mediterranean. In a bold design decision close to our hearts, Chloe sacrificed a bedroom to create the most magnificent void, added a spiral staircase to the first floor and then used the attic space to build a children’s playroom and family movie room - not one-inch of space has been spared in transforming this once single-storey home into a whimsy wonderland.
Out the back, there’s the perfect-sized pool, a fireplace and chooks and dogs roam amongst the fruit trees. It’s honestly quite magical and we can wait to show you around…

I've never seen period, modern, ecclectic and minimalism done so beautifully! The use of neutrals, with healthy sprinkiling of boldness and colour is really well measured and fun. Beautifully done 👏🏽👏🏽

Every space in this house is such a magnificent display of her creativity and appreciation of artistic craftsmanship…from the colours to the cornice to the lighting to the unique furniture pieces- a feast for the eyes! Well done! Stunning!

I grew up in a house with 5 kids and only one small bathroom. We used shower caddies and brought our personal stuff to the bathroom with us then took it away

Thank you Chloe and Bonnie for this tour. I loved the reuse of the beautiful doors and antiques. The veggie garden using every last bit of land. There is so much to learn and love from hands on sustainability at home. Gorgeous treasures, desks, art, the void and sinuous stair case. I feel there is a lot of love and fun and cuddles with the dogs and humans here. Having the new levels maximises the land and fun for everyone. Congratulations to Chloe and the Three Birds.

I would say « gorgeous » house but it wouldn’t be enough. Magical, wonderland..would be more appropriate. To me this is the work of someone who is clearly sensitive with all their senses and obviously creative. Well done!

As a builder's daughter I'd amend what the Presenter says ie "Your house is BORING, EMPTY AND LIFELESS". You can't tell me that 7 people live there - the only sign of life is the upstairs childrens' play area where a few toys have been aesthetically placed (for show). And whoever had the idea to install that idiotic staircase that BLOCKS OUT HALF THE LIGHT should have their head examined! How on Earth are you going to be able to carry anything square or rectangular upstairs???? Total and utter madness.

The Three Birds should become four and hire her. She would bring something occasionally different to their designs which are beautiful but tend to be redundant and lacking personality.
