Really liked everything but my favorite is the large hurricane shade with the white house & tree. I love arrangements like that. I have a cheese dome just like yours but I painted the bottom white. I change up what I put in it with the seasons.

I would add glitter to the bottle brush tree too. Tie them together with the same treatments. The tree bulbs need to be white and heavily coated with the glitter too. I am curious about the "bumps" and "cracks" on the wood tray. Why don't you at least scuff sand? I can see the paint easily being scratched and the new owner trying to salvage the piece but sand aging it after awhile. Thanks for sharing though, it is important for things to have multiple lives. Everything saved with as near a toxin free manner as possible is very Earth friendly and very appreciated.

I love the tray, it is gorgeous! It would even look nice with some gold wax on the handles 🥰 I am curious about the medium you used, because I’ve only seen mod podge used for a medium when doing this technique! I’m guessing the medium is way better than mod podge though. My 2nd favorite in this video is the rooster transfer you used on cheese board with cloche.

Liquid patina adds a little bit more fussing time with the paper as it's not quite as sticky and thick. And it dries crystal clear and completely smooth, which makes it a great medium for decoupage papers. I would probably stick with Mod Podge for thicker materials like cardstock, but so far I like liquid patina far better for paper. I'm glad you liked the projects! Thank you for watching! :)

Sorry this post is so long...it has some painting instructions that I feel this channel probably already shared but this is my first video from this creator and I hope to see more. I was watching a miniature set maker for claymation film and he shared a cool way to do crackle. I had always done it a bit different but the way it was explained gave me some choices to make over the size of the crackle. Use PVC glue (white or wood glue) and coat the project. Just before it dries, add a layer of paint. How big the crackle effect gets depends on how thick the layer of paint is. Thicker paint cracked less and very thin paint had smaller cracks and much more cracking. Also, I dried the thick cracking pieces without help where as the thin ones I used a hair drier. The hotter, the thinner the cracks. I hope someone new to this old school hint caries on the art. I was making doll house pieces for a friend and she wanted old and new pieces as would be the norm for most homes. I made a set of produce boxes for the garden produce tent that she has each year. Those boxes were also from old to new and it was so much fun giving each a different look. I "converted" an old milk jug crate with wire handle...one I made by hand... into a "Patty's Produce" box for the toteing of goods from the garden, making sure the milk sign remained and the lettering was the only new part. I made every type of typical America produce in bulk in polymer clay by hand as well. I did all of this work in Balsa wood, stir sticks and heavy duty tongue depressors along with polymer clay, chalk and paint. They still can't get over the fact that I traded a 1 /12" poly clay and resin pie for a homegrown, homemade cherry pie! It didn't last long and I lamented that I hadn't shared it with my mother~

Hi Rachel, just a question...so Liquid Patina is a decoupage medium? The name doesn't seem to fit. Does it have other uses that create a patina on projects?
@theeclecticcottagespokane

It can actually be used as a top coat, a transfer gel, or a decoupage medium. :)

What is the secret to not getting wrinkles and bubbles when decoupaging? I can have no wrinkles when I put the paper down but as soon as I put the coat of mod podge on top here come the wrinkles & bubbles.
@theeclecticcottagespokane
@theeclecticcottagespokane Жыл бұрын
I am by no means an expert, and I think sometimes you can do everything right and still end up with wrinkles! I don't usually use Mod Podge for decoupage, honestly - I find it to be a little too thick. When I do use it I usually thin it out just a tad with some water. I try to use high quality papers. (I think the type of paper you use makes a huge difference.) I try to start at one end of a piece and work my way to the other end, applying the decoupage medium and then laying my paper down in increments as I go and trying to keep the wrinkles to a minimum in each section. And I usually coat my paper with a decent coat of medium once it's down and try to work any wrinkles out that I can as I go. I don't know if any of this is helpful, but these are some of the things I do to try to mitigate as many wrinkles and bubbles as possible, but even then, they still crop up once in a while . . . :)
