Welcome to episode #4 of my thrift store makeover series where I take something I've found out of a thrift store (or actually, in this case i found it at a yard sale, but still) and I strip it down and give it a makeover. This always involves a lot of color, sometimes glitter, and a lot of PAINT. Hope you enjoy!
This time I'm flipping a wooden carousel wall hanging that I found at a yard sale. I believe this is a vintage item, but it hasn't aged well at all. It definitely needs a makeover. I want to hang this in my art room (ART ROOM TOUR: • Art Room Tour | Art. C... ) which happens to be full of color and cutesy stuff. I'm going to be doing a lot of decorating to get this looking bright and festive so it fits better with my craft room aesthetic LOL.

So I think the general consensus is that the hooks are for keys. Makes sense 😂 I won't actually be using this for my keys since it's for my art room and it would be a super inconvenient place to put my keys, but still. Good to know I guess 🤷♀️

Beautiful work, you are truly talented. Personally, I would’ve painted the poles gold because as a kid I would go to an amusement park every summer and the carousel there had super detailed and really pretty gold poles. This was such a cute design and amazing idea ❤️

I can almost guarantee that those pegs were used for hanging candles on. In the 90s, when the wooden country look was super popular, everyone who embraced that look had a wooden shelf with drip candles hanging on it...including my mother.

i am someone who advocates very strongly for the preservation of natural wood in "vintage" stuff. but this thing is so tacky that needs the color to make sense, i think you made the right decision by upcycling it

I like to think of yard/garage/rummage sales as pop-up thrift stores. It's basically the same, except at a real thrift store you can only guess at who used to own something, and at a yard sale you can SEE who put it in that condition. It's half the fun, honestly.

I think the population of 19 million people in Romania know also her nails were the colors of the romanian flag (blue, yellow and red) but the colors she used for the carousel were pink light yellow and light blue which are the colors of the Pansexual flag so no ones forgetting about Romania people are just happy to see colors that represent their sexuality so if you would kindly shut your face
