The middle eastern throat singing was actually first preformed when a group of tribal Saudi Arabian men were surrounded from all sides by enemies and so they used throat singing as a scare tactic to the surrounding enemy, and it actually worked! So it was carried out as a tribal tradition.

This is amazing. Im an Aboriginal Australian and we do not throat sing. We invented the didgeridoo over 20.000 years ago that creates this sound - in particular the throat singing of the Tibetan Monk. Its interesting and beautiful how other cultures achieve this in their own way.

Sardinian throat singing almost sounds middle eastern in and of its self Kinda Arabic sounding, Tibet sounds close to the throat singing of the steppe people, Arab throat singing sounds more like cheering but idk maybe I just ain’t hearing it South Africa by far has to be the most unique out of them, I like how harmonizing it is.

Fun fact: The Arabian/Middle Eastern throat singing is a war song and it could be followed with a dance. The Arabs used to make such noises to confuse the enemy and distract them from knowing from which side they’re going to attack and such.. each tribe had it’s own unique throat song and dance. They always used it to scare the enemies when they trap them somewhere in the Sahara and such.. it has a very long history. And in my home country Iraq we in the south we have a very special way of singing which has both throat singing and poet singing, if anyone is willing to see it I could send few links.

I love how this has actual throat singing traditions. A lot of online sources love to slap the title on any "weird" form of singing, such as the Inuit katajjaq, even though katajjaq isn't really a form of singing to begin with. Kudos on the well researched video!
