Thronefall is in early access!
With this, we unlock new weapons, perks and mutators. My previous "demo map 2" run has been completely obliterated with the new tools we have to use now.
In this run I used every mutator bar turtle god, so 6 in total. I use the light spear with the perks heavy armour, war horse and glass cannon. These perks are not the meta but I found them to be very fun to play, with a satisfying build order.

Very nice. I never came up with the idea to place your armie close enough so enemy archery will never focus you, very smart. I also play with all mutators accept for the turtle… this makes everything absolutely worse. Anything else is manageable. Same for the Desert. Only the Icemap gives me headaches. Highest clear „only“ with 5. (No Turtle and snake)

Very nice, I played this similar but I didn't upgrade my houses, I also beat this level with no walls no eco and no archer towers it was really fun

You should try a king only run (no units, towers or exploding windmills). It’s pretty fun. I got it with bow weapon (because of flying enemies), same perks as in this video and all mutators except damage, health and speed (although I think it’s possible with the speed one too). For castle upgrades I got the 3rd for lvl 2 and the 1st for lvl 3.

Yeah aha, others have been able to get a high score with turtle god too but they found the strat after I built this one. I'd say this is my favourite loadout to play anyways.

Very well played, i see that i almost use the same strategy as you but i cant get the precise movement you do under control (to slow and getting hit too much or to fast by walking out of range). Are you playing with a keyboard or a controller?

I'm playing with a keyboard. And yeah it is very difficult, I had 50 hours in just the demo so I've had a lot of practice.

@@koalaunion23 Thanks for confirming this, good to know. So it should be doable for me with a keyboard. Sometimes you try things in games (i.e. race games) and it ends up being completely impossible to do with just a normal keyboard and you need a controller/thumb stick/wheel input to get the job done.

I missed this comment. But yes, I get the exact same in Trackmania. I tried to use keyboard for a whole season to challenge myself and it was much more difficult than the controller. I just happen to play Thronefall on KB+M because that's how I started doing it and gained some muscle memory.

I don't know why you hadn't upgrade some of the building here with that excess of gold, especially the tower there ? Since wasn't destroyed building give less point for you ?

Heyo! Yes you're right, destroyed buildings give less points. However, I found that it is better to save the gold because it gives you more score at the end. The total score = base score + (gold * 10). The problem with towers in Thronefall is that they get one-shot by catapults unless they are upgraded twice to iron plates. So that's 5 + 16 = 21 gold, and 21 gold * 10 = 210 score! And if I had to upgrade a lot of them, then it's not worth it for high-score runs. I hope that helps!

Yes! It's too expensive to upgrade them, and they don't do enough damage for what it's worth anyways. This might not apply in every case, but I think it works better with level one towers.

How do you keep your army lined up, i saw you line one by one, what key to press to line them?

Hey! If you hold ctrl on the keyboard, it will select any troops you have around you. If you press it again, the troops will stop following you, but will chase after enemies, but if you hold ctrl instead, little white circles will appear below them, meaning that's where they will stay put. So I took them one by one and ordered them in a line. Hope that helps! Let me know how it goes.

@@koalaunion23 I'm only using the first 4 mutators after turtle god. I'll try placing the the xbows a bit further back as you have instead of directly on the archers' spawn. I'm also struggling with those 4 fast movers in wave 3, but I probably just need more practice. 😉

@@Philip-1 Ahh yeah! That's it, they need to be further back, because when enemies spawn they deal AOE damage as they appear. It also catches me out sometimes.

So, it's literally the same strategy as The Last Spell - ignore everything but economy early on, then mid to late game invest the coinage in upgrades.

Yo! In short, the towers are not worth the gold. The amount of gold you have at the end of the game adds up to your final score in the equation: base score + (gold * 10). Spending that gold means less gold at the end. The upgraded towers still get one-shot by the catapults in the final wave, and don't actually do that much damage, so really they aren't very useful in high-score runs. Hope that explains it!

To be honest the meta has veered towards the war horse and glass cannon perk since. Now they're considered top tier on Nordfels. Previously the top runs had royal mint, castle fortifications and treasure hunter.

There is one crucial tip that could help you with wave 2 and 3. When you're low on HP with the light spear, your "ability" lasts longer. Since we can only use the ability once during the wave realistically, extending this duration means we deal more damage and clear more enemies. That's why I purposefully take damage and "block" the enemies from going to my mill, so that I can use my ability, doing more damage and regenerating health at the same time. I hope that explains it. Let me know how it goes!

why is your character's damage so high at the beggining without any upgrades. I dont think it should deal that much damage. (maybe im wrong)

Yu, it's the perks! I have two that deal extra damage, one is called war horse (when I run into the enemy with my horse, it deals a little damage) and glass cannon (which makes ME take more damage, but also deal a lot more damage to the enemy) and because I take extra damage from glass cannon, I use heavy armour as my third perk to give myself my health. These perks have a juicy synergy in my opinion and are pure fun to play. Have a go!

@@koalaunion23 Juicy synergy, you're literally a one-man army, holding an entire frontline while half of your troops on the other 2 got half-wiped. It's quite literally busted, not to mention the Assassin perk you get from Castle upgrade. Insane dmg while nigh unkillable lmao. Well done
