I think my 74 Topps has my name on it... just first name tho. I figured those team cards would look dumb with my name on them and trying to send them off to other guys 😂

Great group of returns! I like the Wilbur Wood cards with no inscriptions! Didn't know $5 was the key! I've actually seen him fully inscribe (first and last name) the Leaders card you sent him! Bummer! Great movie info and photos!!

It is a bit strange there isn't a note of some sort on SCN about this. The leaders card, for example, that's pretty valuable info for that kind of card. Instead, we have notes on SCN from 2011 that say things like, 'DONT SENT HIM 16 CARDS HE'LL KEEP SOME'.

Fantastic video did you get to look in the basement when you visited The Alamo

That was my FB post with our photo... 'Here to see the basement'. A few got it... mostly that comment went under the radar. They have an audio tour you can take, and they did answer that question in the audio tour because apparently they still get asked that every day. 😂

@@ChrisCards the monument to the Battle of San Jacinto has a basement, and they mention it on their website saying something like, "Unlike the Alamo, we actually have a basement!" 😆

Rick Kester one of the best. I asked him about pitching against Toledo and he shared some great information. I have a couple of the 1972 finished but need to get a copy of the 1971 with Kester and Garr

Had a great time, traffic SUCKED tho because of the festival. 3 miles from the city at the hotel was a 30 minute drive each day so... of course all the hotels in the city were out of our budget. That's why we traveled around a bit.

Enjoyable video. Don't ever worry about them being too long. The information is worth the length. As a history buff myself, I have to say, the Alamo was one of the biggest disappointments (or letdowns) of my entire life! I expected so much more.

I had read that the Alamo was a bit overrated...I was not expecting too much and perhaps that's why I didn't feel let down. I really enjoyed the artifacts in the museum, including the collection donated by Phil Collins. That evening I spent a few hours on the phone reading more about the battle of San Jacinto which I feel needed to be expanded upon more. It would have put a nice bow on the story of Santa Anna and his failure to best Sam Houston and his rag-tag group of mercenaries. This battle, with ranchers inspired by the battle at the Alamo and the massacre at Goliad.... was touched upon but didn't go into much detail.

That was a lot of information,sounded like you had fun. In casual conversation,you could have approached an actor if possible and ask if you or a friend could write to them or ask in general if they answer fan mail,I did that with athletes and got them by mail later. Old-time second baseman Tommy Helms wrote his address for me years ago,been the same forever!

Yes Terry, that's a great idea. That's one of those things I think about later while laying in bed and not in the moment. 😂

Chris, read on Facebook earlier this evening that Ron Bryant passed back in November of last year. I have been unable to locate a notice, obituary or confirmation beyond a notice which was presumably sent out by his spouse to a collector who had wanted him to sign some cards. Can you confirm if his passing is true or not?
@ChrisCards
@ChrisCards 5 ай бұрын
Hi Bruce, I talked about this on a video a few months back. Like you, I can't find confirmation anywhere. It seems unlikely his death could be kept that secretive since returns came way back in Nov of 2022 with a notice that he had passed. I have not noticed any attempts since then from the few sites I look at for info. My gut feeling is Ron said 'Tell them I'm dead' in regards to no longer wanting to sign? That's unique, and funny, but really confusing since SCN has marked him as 'DEC' and we can't find any evidence that he is dead. I will write him/his family and let you know what his/their response is.

I'll go with Ty Cline as the favorite. He, Jim Colburn and Bob Patterson are all Ex-Cub greats.
