Perhaps this is the "and rescue" part of "fire and rescue". A building made with blocks like that is unlikely to have a serious fire that would prevent other access methods.
@michaelhornbuckle2835 жыл бұрын
I'm a brick and block Mason by trade. You have split face block here trying to break through. Always remember every 4 feet and on each side of the windows and doors are solid with concrete and rebar. And avoid the two bottom courses. Because that's where all the mortar Falls when you are laying the block that's the toughest part. But you're lucky it's only 4 inch block because you don't feel 4-inch block with concrete and rebar

Actually yes there is a point and if you read my other post you'd realize I agreed with you in the example of a natural disaster as a potential reason for breaching a wall. I just don't agree with name calling and derogatory comments directed at someone who is adding a comment that's meant to be somewhat humorous or especially when comments are directed toward the people that post comments that genuinely don't understand why we do what we do

not all trucks can carry a masonry saw, they only have so much space. you probably would find that on light or heavey rescue or a specialized truck, most ladders and engines carry quick vent or standard chain saws, and tenders only carry hose and water

With that many windows on one wall that was definitely a load bearing shear panel that you just chopped through, nothing like having half the building fall on your team. @kaspernbs6 жыл бұрын
Simple how about if there are no windows or doors to go through in that section of the building?
@danielrose13926 жыл бұрын
Thank you, looks like this training is a result of different building codes. Asked a friend and he told me they don't learn this in Germany. There is always a designated emergency entry which does not require to smash bricks. In some cases it's a steel plate they have to cut but they never have to smash bricks.
@ironsurvival70116 жыл бұрын
Ever see s type 1 building? Go to an industrial area and you'll see many concrete tilt ups that may not have window access

@Engineer97362 жыл бұрын
@@9volt65 They have wooden planks or kevlar sheeting to prevent glass injuries while moving people out through windows 🙄. If a windows is available then the window is of course the obvious way to go. If the building is on fire then they are not going to spend 20 minutes busting a wall while the people inside burn to death, while they could also just have broken the window. Perhaps first grow some intelligence before acting sarcastic. But Steve O has it right, it's a training for busting the wall.

Hey, you need to teach them chainsaw safety. I don't care who you are, you don't cut towards people and you don't grab branches or twigs near the chainsaw when it is on. You wait till the cut is done to grab any branches or twigs. I've worked in the tree business for 9 years my dad 37 years, and the number one thing they first teach you when cutting, make sure no one is in 5 ft of you and the chainsaw when it is on.
@GAIS4142 жыл бұрын
Agreed! But with a chain that dull, they're all relatively safe. =D

Fire a n d r e s c u e. They don't only attend fires. Also depending on the block design, you can smash a man sized hole in a black wall in under 30 seconds. This was harder than many because they were splitface blocks between windows, meaning all standards no H's. Only thing making it easier is they weren't filled.
@nicolasrecio60575 жыл бұрын
They should have a training on how to use a sledgehammer lol

I have had to break a wall, it's tiring but highly effective when you can't really get a different way for ventilation, so I guess all of that comments asking why come from poeple that haven't seen any situation where it's needed.
